We join you in lifting up your friend’s work situation before the Lord, and we praise God that you have brought this request in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Your heart for your friend’s provision and protection is commendable, and we share in your desire to see God’s will done in his life.
The Scriptures remind us that our labor is not in vain when it is done for the Lord. Colossians 3:23-24 says, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."* We encourage your friend to continue working with excellence, trusting that God sees his efforts and will provide in His perfect timing. A raise or promotion may come, but even if it does not, we pray he finds contentment in knowing his true reward is in Christ.
As for the hostility he faces from anti-Christian coworkers, we must remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of wickedness (Ephesians 6:12). Jesus warned us that the world would hate His followers because it first hated Him (John 15:18-19). Yet, He also commanded us to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, and pray for those who mistreat us (Matthew 5:44). Your friend’s response to these difficult people should reflect Christ’s love, even as he stands firm in his faith. 1 Peter 3:15-16 instructs us, *"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts; and always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear: having a good conscience; that, while you are spoken against as evildoers, they may be disappointed who curse your good way of life in Christ."*
Let us also remind your friend that God is his defender. Psalm 37:5-6 assures us, *"Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will bring out your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday."* He does not need to take on these people in his own strength—God will fight for him if he remains faithful.
We pray now for your friend’s situation:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this man’s employment before You, asking that You provide for his needs according to Your riches in glory. If it is Your will, grant him favor for a raise and promotion, not for his own glory but so that he may be a greater witness for You in his workplace. Give him wisdom to navigate the hostility he faces, and fill him with Your peace that surpasses understanding. Help him to respond with grace and truth, reflecting Christ in all he does. Strengthen his faith, Lord, and remind him that his identity is found in You, not in his job title or the approval of men. Protect him from bitterness or fear, and let him rest in the knowledge that You are his shield and rewarder. May his light shine so brightly that even those who oppose him now will one day see Your love through him. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to continue praying for your friend, that he would seek first God’s kingdom and righteousness, trusting that all these things—including his daily needs—will be added to him (Matthew 6:33). If he is not already doing so, urge him to spend time in prayer and Scripture daily, so that his heart remains aligned with God’s will above all else. May the Lord bless him with patience, perseverance, and a deep sense of His presence in this season.
