We join you in lifting up your friend before the throne of grace and we are deeply moved by his suffering and the difficult road of recovery that lies ahead for him. To face an amputation and the prospect of further amputation, along with other health issues, is a heavy burden to carry, and we pray that he will know the nearness and comfort of the Lord in this painful season.
We are reminded of the compassion of our God who sees our affliction. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. And in Isaiah 41:10 we hear His promise, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Even when the body is weak, His grace remains sufficient, for 2 Corinthians 12:9 tells us He has said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.
We also want to gently share something important with you, as your request did not mention the name of Jesus. We come to the Father only through Jesus, and it is in His name that we have access to God and assurance of salvation. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is our desire that both you and your friend know this hope, that by believing in Jesus Christ, trusting in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins, you may have eternal life and a living relationship with God. If your friend does not yet know Him, we pray this trial might draw him to seek the Lord.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear friend to You. You know his body, his pain, his fear, and his future. We ask for Your healing hand upon him according to Your will. We pray for wisdom and skill for the surgeons and medical team who care for him, for success and protection in any further surgery that is needed, and for relief from other health complications. Lord, ease his pain, guard against infection, and grant him strength for each day of recovery and rehabilitation. Heal his heart as well as his body and surround him with Your peace which surpasses all understanding as spoken of in Philippians 4:7. Let him feel Your presence close to him, and let him know that he is not forgotten or forsaken. We pray for his family and loved ones, that You would comfort them and give them endurance as they support him. Above all, we ask that he would come to know or be strengthened in faith in Jesus, that even in weakness Your power would be made perfect in him and that his life would give glory to You. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our healer. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to stand beside your friend, to visit him, to speak words of hope from Scripture, and to remind him that God can restore and use him mightily even in this new chapter. Jeremiah 30:17 gives us this promise, For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. Whether healing comes fully in this life or ultimately in eternity with Him, we trust that the Lord is working for good for those who love Him as Romans 8:28 teaches. Keep praying faithfully for him and sharing the love of Christ with him, and may the Lord sustain you as you intercede for him.

Thank you for letting us pray for your friend. Hearing that he has already been through an amputation and faces more surgery is heavy, and we can imagine how much you want to help him through such a long recovery.

Your request for prayer has been received and we bring it before the Lord with you in sincere sympathy for your friend in this deep trial.
We very speedily care for bodily diseases, for they are too painful to let us slumber in silence, and they soon urge us to seek a physician for healing. How much more should we look to that great and heavenly Physician who has abundant streams of healing flowing down to men below. The Scripture tells us that the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is full of healing virtue. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but even the leaves, the little things as it were about Christ, are full of power to change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, showing that pardon and healing are placed in happy conjunction in His hands.
We are mindful that when the body suffers long from illness, when the pain is gone there is a dreadful weakness left and restoration is a long process. The weakened limbs only recover strength by slow degrees. Wonder not if recovery should be slow, and as your friend is brought through this amputation and the further surgery that awaits him, with other health issues pressing upon him, may he taste of those leaves which are for the healing of the nations so that he may revive out of decline. It is faithfully promised, I will strengthen them in the Lord, and that promise will be assuredly performed. In each increase of strength, even though it come slowly, there is cause to acknowledge the Lord's hand.

O Lord our God, Thou art the Sun of Righteousness with healing in Thy wings, look in mercy upon this afflicted one. Thou knowest his frame, his pain, his loss, and the further trial that lies before him. Lay Thy hand upon him and grant to the surgeons and all who care for him skill and wisdom. Ease his pain, guard him from further evil, and in Thy good providence raise him up again. Strengthen him in his weakness day by day, and sustain his spirit that he may not faint. Above all, let him know that healing and forgiveness are found together in Christ Jesus, and if he has not already done so, may he look to Calvary where the healing balm is found, and receive pardon and peace through the blood of Thy Son. Comfort also the heart of the friend who has brought this burden to us, and keep both in Thy tender care. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is able to heal and willing to save. Amen.
May you and your friend be encouraged to cast yourselves wholly upon the Lord, who alone does the work of true healing, both of body and of soul, and who will not forsake those who trust in Him.
