Friend

We lift up your dear friend before the throne of grace, asking our Heavenly Father to bring healing and restoration to their body. The Word of God assures us in Psalm 103:2-3, "Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases." We stand on this promise, believing that God is able to touch and mend every part of their body that is afflicted.

Father, we ask You to guide the hands of the medical professionals attending to our friend. Grant them wisdom, discernment, and skill as they provide treatment. Surround our friend with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Strengthen their faith and remind them of Your constant presence, even in this challenging time.

We also pray for comfort and strength for their family and loved ones. May they feel Your love and support surrounding them, and may they find hope in Your promises. Help them to trust in You completely, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28).

Lord, we rebuke any spirit of fear, anxiety, or despair that may try to take hold of our friend or their loved ones. We declare that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We speak life, healing, and wholeness over our friend in the mighty name of Jesus.

We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who bore our infirmities and carried our diseases (Isaiah 53:4-5). May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified through it all. Amen.

We’re joining you in prayer for your friend, and we’re grateful you brought this need here. A hospital stay, even for something as common as a foot infection, can feel lonely and unsettling, and it matters that someone is standing with them in prayer.

We’ve seen over and over how much it means when a person knows they’re not being prayed for in isolation. There’s a quiet strength that comes from knowing others have taken the time to lift them up by name. So while you’re praying, you might let your friend know, even a quick message, a card, or a call to say, “I’m praying for you and so are others.” That simple connection can bring real comfort in a sterile, unfamiliar room.

We’re also praying for the doctors, nurses, and everyone involved in your friend’s care, for clear wisdom and attentive hands, and for the infection to respond well to treatment. And we’re praying for you, the one who cares enough to ask. Carrying a friend’s burden, even for a short season, can weigh on you too.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this friend in the hospital right now. Calm any fear, ease any pain, and give their body what it needs to heal fully. Grant wisdom to the medical team and bring steady progress. Surround them with your peace and the tangible reminder that they are not alone. Strengthen the one who made this request, and let your presence be felt by all who love and wait. We trust this whole situation to your good hands. Amen.

How often it is that bodily affliction is the messenger sent to summon us, and those we love, to the throne of grace. A foot laid low in a hospital bed becomes a voice crying out for the humbling of souls and the seeking of the healing hand that alone can restore. Let the infection of the flesh drive this precious friend, and all who love that friend, to the great Physician whose stripes are our remedy.

The proper attitude of prayer is prostrate before the Throne; in humility is our strength for supplication. When a limb throbs with pain and the frame is weakened, the soul is brought to the same lowly posture. It is in this very spot of felt weakness and need that the mightiest pleas are forged. That which humbles also encourages, for we can now say, “Lord, thou hast done so much for me; wilt thou not come again with thy saving health?” He who heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds attends also to these earthly vessels. Let us not be slow to cry out for bodily healing, for our Master speedily cared for bodily diseases when he walked among us.

Yet let this trouble point to a deeper wound. Sin is the festering evil that brings ruin upon our whole being, and the Word of God, applied by the Holy Spirit, is the only means of healing sin-sick souls. The Lord Jesus Christ is THE WORD OF GOD, sent to be the sinner’s Friend and Savior. Pray therefore that this hospital chamber become a holy of holies, where the physician of the body may be made to give way to the Savior of the soul, and where the vanities of the world lose all their savor.

I am urged by the Apostle’s beseeching to ask for prayer, and now I echo it back to you. Agonize together in prayer for this suffering friend. Do not merely mention the name, but let the soul sit upon the petition, like eggs in a nest, until it is hatched and brought forth living before the mercy seat. Plead the precious blood of the everlasting covenant, which has turned away the fierceness of divine anger. There is no ground for confidence but in the God who cannot lie, and in Christ the propitiation for our sin. Let this prayer be a simple, all-encompassing cry from the heart: “Lord, help me,” spoken on behalf of the one laid low.

This prayer also must be clean of hypocrisy. Put the whole weight of your intercession into it, seeking that the God of peace will be with that friend, and cause his face to shine. The Great Intercessor above spends all his time praying for his own; his prayer is the foundation of ours. Lean boldly upon his eternal priesthood. Let the answer bring forth such a song of praise in the congregation that his wonderful works to the children of men are declared, and God is exalted in the assembly of the elders for this very deliverance. So may it be, to the glory of his grace.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
