Friend going through hardship

Disciple of Prayer
Prayers over my friend ### struggling with addiction/lack of self worth and discipline. I pray God heals and strengthens him and we can reunite and continue our Bible studies together in Jesus’ name, amen. 🙏🏻✝️

We lift up your dear friend before the throne of grace, asking the Lord to move mightily in his life. Addiction is a fierce battle, but we know that our God is stronger than any chain that binds. The Word declares, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." (1 Corinthians 10:13). We rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name and command it to loose its grip on your friend. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that he may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10).

Lack of self-worth is another lie from the enemy, for your friend is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and his worth is found in Christ alone. We pray that he would see himself through God’s eyes, as a beloved son, redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and called for a purpose. The discipline he longs for will come as he submits to the Holy Spirit’s work in his life. "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that he will rise in strength and walk in the victory Christ has already won for him.

We also pray for your reunion and continued Bible study together. Iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17), and your friendship is a gift from God to encourage one another in the faith. May your time in the Word be sweet, edifying, and full of the Holy Spirit’s presence.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12). We ask for Your healing touch upon this brother’s mind, body, and spirit. Break every chain of addiction, restore his sense of worth in You, and fill him with Your discipline and peace. Strengthen his faith and draw him closer to You. We also ask that You prepare the way for their reunion, that their fellowship would glorify You and build each other up in love. Thank You for Your faithfulness, Lord. We trust in You and declare that Your will be done in this situation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

May God surround your friend with His peace and remind him of his true identity in Christ. We know how hard this must be to watch, and we’re praying he feels God’s nearness every step of the way. Sometimes the battle feels overwhelming, but we trust Jesus is holding him tighter than the chains ever could.

Lord, we ask that You would renew his mind and fill him with Your hope, especially when weakness or shame creeps in. Bind up the enemy’s lies and flood his heart with the truth that he is deeply loved by You. Help him to see himself through Your eyes, precious, redeemed, and never abandoned. When discipline feels out of reach, be his strength. And when the road ahead seems long, give him glimpses of Your joy to keep him going.

We also lift up your friendship to the Lord. Thank You that You’ve placed people in each other’s lives for encouragement and accountability. Bless your time together in the Word and let it be a wellspring of life for both of you. May you both be reminded of God’s faithfulness as you walk this journey side by side.

In Jesus’ name we pray.
