Please pray for my fiance ### that she gets out of jail very soon. Please pray for me ### that I do not go to jail. God can only help us now, and I believe in my heart he can do anything. Thank you so very much

We join you together in prayer in this difficult and fearful time and we hear your belief that God can do anything, and we agree with you that He can. With God all things are possible Matthew 19:26 and nothing is too hard for Him Jeremiah 32:17. We also want to gently point out that you spoke of God but did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to share why that matters so much to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If we have not yet put our faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for you will be saved Romans 10:9. This is the foundation for every prayer we bring, and we bring yours to God in the name of Jesus.
We also want to speak honestly with you about what you are asking. We understand the deep desire for your fiancee to be released soon and for you to be spared from jail, and we will pray for mercy and for God's will to be done. At the same time we must remember that God is both merciful and just, and He calls us to honesty, repentance, and submission to rightful authority. Every person is to be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are ordained by God Romans 13:1. If wrong has been done, God calls us not to hide it but to confess it, for he who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them obtains mercy Proverbs 28:13 and if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. We encourage you both to be fully truthful before God and before the authorities, to work honestly with any legal counsel God has provided, and to trust that even if the outcome is not what you hope, God remains near to those who are brokenhearted and close to those crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18 and He can work all things for good for those who love Him Romans 8:28.
We are encouraged that you speak of your fiancee and we want to lift up your courtship before the Lord. We believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman ordained by God and we strongly endorse holy marriage. Courtship should be a time of preparing for that covenant with purity and faithfulness, seeking to marry another believer in Christ. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4. So we encourage you both to honor God in your relationship now by remaining sexually pure until marriage and by seeking to build your future marriage on repentance, forgiveness, and obedience to Christ. True freedom is found first in Christ, for if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed John 8:36, and He came to proclaim liberty to the captives and release to those who are bound Isaiah 61:1.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this man and his fiancee to You. You know their situation, their fears, their sins, and their needs. We ask first for Your mercy and Your forgiveness where there has been sin, and we pray that both would humble themselves before You, confess what needs to be confessed, and receive Your cleansing. We pray for his fiancee where she is incarcerated, that You would keep her safe, comfort her heart, draw her close to Yourself, and let her know Your presence in that place. We pray for this man who fears going to jail, that You would calm his anxiety, grant him wisdom, and help him to walk in truth and integrity before the courts and before You. We ask that Your perfect will be done regarding their legal cases, that justice would be done with mercy, and that whatever the outcome, You would use it to bring them to deeper repentance, faith, and dependence on You. We pray that You would redeem their relationship, help them to honor You in their courtship, and if it is Your will, lead them into a godly marriage that glorifies Christ. Bring them both to salvation through faith in Jesus if they have not yet believed, and give them peace that passes understanding as they trust You. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our only hope, amen.

Your cry has been heard and laid before the throne of grace, and we join our prayers with yours that the Lord will do that which is most for His glory and for your eternal good.
There is a prison more terrible than that of stone and iron, and a pit more dreadful than any earthly jail. The soul by nature is bound by justice and fettered by its sin, going down to the pit under the just sentence of a holy God. Yet there is a word that comes from heaven itself, "Deliver him from going down to the pit, for I have found a ransom." Nobody would have thought of that way of deliverance if God had not thought of it, that the King's own Son should bear the penalty of iniquity, that there might be a clean jail delivery for the prisoners of hope by the mandate of the eternal God. This is the great deliverance which we must seek first, for if the soul is delivered by the precious blood of Christ, though the body be yet confined, the man is free indeed.
We would have you see also the hand of the Lord in these afflictions. Troubles do not spring out of the dust, neither does affliction grow up from the ground, but the Lord Himself kindles the fiery furnace and sits as a Refiner at the door. The Psalmist said, "The Lord hath chastened me sore, but He hath not given me over unto death." That which we receive from the rod of the Lord bears the blessed aspect of chastening from a Father's hand, and even the sharpest smart may be made profitable if it drives us to Christ. What does the man know about the sea who has only walked on the beach, and what does the soul know of redeeming grace till it has felt its own helplessness.
It is written, "He hath delivered us from the power of darkness." Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin, and where we look for justification there must we also look for sanctification. The grace of God has not come into us merely to keep us away from some few notable vices, but to deliver us altogether from the power of darkness, to bring us out of the house of bondage by His own outstretched arm. There is no true liberty but that of which Christ makes you free, and unless a supernatural power is put forth, any form of deliverance is worth nothing.
Therefore our prayer for you and for your fiance is first and chiefly this, that you both may know the ransom found in Jesus Christ, that by faith in Him alone you may be saved from sin and from going down to the pit. We pray that the Lord in His mercy would grant such temporal deliverance as is consistent with His perfect justice and wisdom, and that He would overrule even these bars and trials for your good, to bring you to repentance, to holiness, and to a life that declares the works of the Lord. May He teach you both to walk in His ways, honoring Him in this engagement and, if it be His will, in the holy covenant of marriage as He ordained it, one man and one woman for life, keeping yourselves pure and seeking first His kingdom.

Look in mercy upon the one who is bound and the one who fears bonds, and let Thy fatherly chastening work repentance and faith.
