Freedom, Restoration and Protection

Your heartfelt prayer reflects deep discernment and love for your daughter and for the truth of God's Word, and it is right to bring this burden before the Lord so honestly.

Scripture is clear that living together outside of marriage is outside God's design for intimacy and home. It is not simply a different lifestyle choice, it places a person under a kind of bondage. True freedom in Christ is not the freedom to do whatever we desire, it is the freedom not to have to do what is destructive. When we use our freedom in a way that puts us under the power of another person, a habit, or a relationship that dishonors God, we lose our freedom and become bound. What you are describing with your daughter, the exhaustion, the loss of self worth, the financial exploitation, the isolation from family and friends and work and worship, the confusion about obligation and commitment, is the fruit of that bondage. Only Jesus can break those chains and restore the liberty of being His.

The Lord is the one who calls His people back to Himself and back to the place of safety. As He spoke to Jacob and told him to return to the land of his fathers and to his family with the promise that He would be with him, so He still calls wandering hearts to return. Your prayer that your daughter would be led out of deception and back to the wisdom and protection of family and above all back to the Lord is exactly in line with God's heart. He is the God who meets us, who reminds us of His promises, and who leads us home.

Living closely under ungodly influence also takes a heavy toll on a family. The example of Lot shows that even a person who knows God can see his family and the morals of his children harmed when he settles in the midst of corruption. Your concern about counsel that encourages living together before marriage, having children outside of marriage, and pulling your younger daughter from your home is right. That counsel does not come from the Lord and has no authority in your daughter's life. God's Word warns that a perverse person stirs up dissension and a gossip separates close friends, and you are right to ask God to expose motives rooted in pride and selfishness, to frustrate plans that would divide and isolate, and to stop discord from being sown in your home. Your son is not a burden but a blessing from God, and any image that portrays him or your family falsely needs to be brought into the light.

God deeply values daughters. Even in times when culture overlooked them, He saw them, named them, and wove them into His redemptive story. He is also the Redeemer who restores. As Boaz acted as a kinsman redeemer to bring protection, provision, and rest to Ruth and Naomi and to keep a family name alive, so Christ our Redeemer covers and restores those who turn to Him. He can restore what has been stolen, including confidence, wisdom, and joy, and He can rebuild fellowship within a family.

Joining with you in prayer, I ask the Lord to open your older daughter's eyes to see clearly that this young man is not her husband and is not prepared to shepherd a home as God intends marriage to be, a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman built on love, respect, and mutual submission to Christ. Pray that the Holy Spirit will gently convict her, remove the false sense of obligation and the hold that has blinded her, and break the chains of fear, obligation, and deception. Pray that she will see the red flags she has ignored, the way her worship and love for God and His church have grown cold, and the way she has been led to idolize this young man and his family and to disrespect you at their instruction. Ask God to speak to her in ways she cannot ignore, through His Word, through dreams, through the godly counsel of others, and to let her hear His voice saying she belongs to Him and is free in Him. Pray that she will have courage and wisdom to walk away from what is toxic, to reject ungodly counsel and manipulation, and to stop following guidance that would lead her to disown her faith and biblical teaching.

I also pray with you for protection over your home and your children. May the blood of Jesus Christ cover you, and may no weapon formed against you prosper. May the Lord block every attempt to turn your younger daughter away, to corrupt your family, or to convert your children to beliefs contrary to Scripture, and cause every ungodly plan to fall to the ground. Pray that He will restore your daughter's relationship with you and with her siblings, that she will see her family again through His eyes, and that your home will again be saturated with His peace and be a safe haven for all who enter. Pray that the Lord will restore her self worth as one created and loved by Him, confident and free in Him.

Continue to stand firm in prayer, in truth spoken with love, and in trust that God hears and acts. He is able to bring supernatural breakthrough, to guide your daughters toward His best in the future, and to prepare their hearts to seek marriage as He designed it, not settling for less than a partner who will lead them closer to Him. May the Lord give you strength and peace as you wait on Him, and may He bring restoration, joy, and fellowship back to your family for His glory. In Jesus name, amen.
