Fraud and theft

[Anonymous]

Heavenly Father, please stop the fraud and theft against us all. Stop those changing passwords on accounts belonging to others to get personal information and opening numerous fraudulent accounts. We pray for Your divine protection over our lives. Surround us with your angels, guarding us from every scheme of the enemy, in Jesus Name. Amen

[Articles]

We join with you in prayer against this fraud and theft and we agree together for God's divine protection and justice over you and all who are being targeted.

We know how violating and distressing it is when others act deceitfully to steal what is not theirs and to misuse personal information. Scripture is clear that God sees all such deeds and that He hates stealing, for it is written Exodus 20:15 You shall not steal. The enemy works through deception and schemes, but our God is a God of truth and righteousness and He is our defender. We take comfort that the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one as promised in 2 Thessalonians 3:3, and that He will give his angels charge over you, to guard you in all your ways in Psalm 91:11. No weapon that is formed against you will prevail in Isaiah 54:17, and though others may plot evil, the Lord surrounds His people as a shield.

We also remember that vengeance belongs to the Lord and He will repay in Romans 12:19, and that the prudent person foresees evil and hides himself in Proverbs 22:3. While we pray for supernatural protection, we also encourage you with godly wisdom to take practical steps as the Lord leads, guarding your accounts, reporting every fraudulent change and account to the proper authorities and institutions, keeping careful records, and seeking wise counsel. God can use both prayer and prudent action to bring restoration, for it is written in Proverbs 6:31 that when a thief is found he must restore.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and ask You to stop every act of fraud and theft against Your people. Expose every hidden scheme, confound those who change passwords and open fraudulent accounts to steal personal information, and bring their deeds into the light. We ask You to place Your divine hedge of protection around lives, homes, finances, and identities. Surround us with Your holy angels and guard us from every scheme of the enemy. Bring justice and restitution where loss has occurred, grant wisdom and favor with banks, agencies, and authorities working on these matters, and give peace to every anxious heart as we cast our anxieties on You in Philippians 4:6-7. We also pray for those committing these sins, that You would convict them and lead them to repentance and salvation through Jesus. We trust You as our refuge and fortress and we thank You that You keep us from evil. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to stand firm in faith, to pray without ceasing, and to trust that God is both your protector and your provider who will not forsake you.

We understand how violating it feels when someone tries to take what is yours and use your name without permission. It leaves you feeling exposed and on edge, and it makes sense you would bring this to the Lord and ask for His protection over your accounts and your household.

We are praying with you for safety and for wisdom as you take the next steps. If these attempts are ongoing, it can help to reach out directly to your banks and credit agencies through their official phone numbers or websites, let them know what has happened, and ask about placing alerts or a freeze and turning on two-factor authentication where you can. Keeping a simple written record of dates, accounts affected, and any messages you receive can also make it easier if you need to file a report with your bank or with local authorities.

You are not alone in this, and God sees both the practical burden and the worry it brings.

Father, we lift this need to You and ask for Your protection over these accounts and personal information. Give wisdom for each practical step, bring these schemes to light, and guard hearts from fear. Grant peace in the waiting and trusted help close at hand. In Jesus name, Amen.

[Spurgeon]

There is no attribute of God more comforting to his children than the doctrine of Divine Sovereignty, and you may rest upon it even in this vexing trial of fraud and theft. The Lord who sees all things knows those who would change passwords and open false accounts to steal what belongs to another, and from the time when Satan fell, His purpose has been to break down everything which sets itself up in opposition to Him.

We join you in prayer that the Lord would stay the hand of the thief and bring to nothing every scheme of the enemy. As it is written, providential interpositions are frequent among God's people, and they can often say, He sent from above, He took me, He drew me out of many waters. So we ask that He would draw you out of these many waters of trouble, that He would frustrate the devices of those who work deceit, and cast down the mighty from the seats of their pomp while He lifts up those who trust in Him.

You have asked that He would surround you with His angels, and we pray this with confidence, for He has charged His angels to keep His people in all their ways. You will always need divine and angelic keeping, for God would not have charged His angels to keep His people in all their ways if they did not need protection in all their ways. This protection is perpetual as well as personal. We pray that the Lord would set His watch over your lives, your homes, and all that has been entrusted to you, guarding your personal information and every account from those who would use it for evil.

May the Lord grant you wisdom and vigilance to walk in the way of obedience to His precepts, for there is safety in walking where He appoints. Keep that which God has taught you, and commit all your cares to Him who wrought all your works in you. He is able to deliver your soul from death and your feet from falling, and to make even this trial work for your good and His glory.

We pray that divine gentleness and divine power would be your portion, that you would know the divine presence as your hope, and that the Lord would restore what has been taken and keep you from further harm, in the name of Jesus Christ our only Savior, Amen.

[Chrysostom]

Your prayer for protection against fraud and theft has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the Lord.

Scripture is clear that theft and deceit do not come from need but from the heart. Jesus taught that evil thoughts, thefts and false witness proceed from within and defile a person, and injustice is judged not by the size of what is taken but by the intention of the heart. Whether someone breaks into a house or quietly cheats in a transaction or steals personal information to open false accounts, it is the same sin of covetousness and robbery before God.

We pray with you that God, who is the giver of all good and the true protector of His people, would put a stop to these schemes. We ask Him to guard your accounts and personal information, to expose every hidden fraud, to bring those who do these things to repentance, and to turn them from idleness and deceit to honest labor and truth. We ask Him to surround you and all who are vulnerable to these crimes with His protection, to give wisdom to those in authority to act justly, and to grant you peace and not fear, knowing that He sees every injustice and will bring justice in His time.

Heavenly Father, we ask for Your divine protection over this life and over all who are targeted by fraud and theft. Stop the hands of those who steal and deceive, prevent further misuse of what belongs to others, and guard what has been entrusted to Your people. Surround them with Your care, give them wisdom to protect what You have provided, and let no scheme of the enemy prevail against them. Lead those who practice theft to see their sin, to repent, and to seek forgiveness through Jesus Christ. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior. Amen.

Continue to take practical steps as you are able, such as monitoring your accounts, reporting fraudulent activity to the proper authorities and institutions, and using strong and secure passwords, while trusting the Lord to be your ultimate refuge and defender.

[Silas]

Your prayer about fraud and theft is heard, and it is right to bring this burden to the Lord. What you are describing, people taking what is not theirs, breaking into accounts, stealing personal information and opening accounts in another person's name, is not a small thing in God's eyes. Scripture treats theft and fraud as serious sin.

The Bible shows that God stands with those who have been wronged in this way and calls those who gain by fraud to account. The cries of those who have been defrauded enter into the ears of the Lord of hosts, the Lord of Sabaoth. He hears when wages are kept back by deceit and when the vulnerable are oppressed for gain, and He condemns riches that are laid up through such dishonesty. His law also required restitution, that the one who stole must restore what was taken, and even double when the stolen goods are found in his hand. God cares about honesty and about making things right.

He also cares about your identity and your protection. To dwell in the secret place of the Most High is to be under His covering. He is described as a fortress, a place of strength, a shield and buckler. His truth is a shield against the schemes of the enemy, just as Jesus used the truth of God's Word to turn aside Satan's attacks. To be under His wings is to find comfort and safety. It is right to ask Him to surround you with His care and to guard you from every trap and scheme, including the hidden traps set by those who would steal and deceive.

There is wisdom in rational protection as well. While we trust the Lord as our ultimate protection, it is also wise to take practical steps to guard what He has entrusted to you, securing accounts, watching over personal information, and seeking help from the proper authorities when wrongdoing occurs. That kind of careful stewardship works together with prayer, not against it.

I am praying with you that the Lord will stop these acts of fraud and theft, that He will expose what is done in secret and bring it to an end, that He will restore what has been taken, and that He will guard you and your loved ones. May He place His protection around you, keep you under the shelter of His wings, give you His truth as a shield, and send His help to guard you from every scheme of the enemy. May He give you peace as you trust Him, wisdom for each practical step, and confidence that the One who hears the cries of His people will act with justice and mercy in Jesus' name.
