Silas
Beloved of All
Your desire to see your former landlord come to know Jesus reflects the heart of God, who wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. Luke 9:24 speaks so clearly to this, for whoever tries to hold on to his life on his own terms will lose it, but whoever surrenders his life to Jesus for His sake will find true and eternal life. That is the great salvation Jesus Himself first proclaimed, open to whosoever will come to Him. He will in no way cast out anyone who comes, and there is no other way to be saved and no escape if this salvation is neglected.
We join you in prayer for this man. We ask in the name of Jesus, who is the Lord our salvation, that the Holy Spirit would work in his heart and draw him to see Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of God who died for our sins and rose again. Scripture promises that whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved, and that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. We pray that he will hear the word of Christ, believe it, and confess Jesus as Lord, for to submit to His lordship now is to receive eternal life.
We also pray as you asked that he will hear the voice of God concerning His holy plan for his life. The voice of the Lord is powerful and full of majesty. It is the voice that is upon the waters, that breaks the cedars, that shakes the wilderness and reveals His glory. That same voice can break a hard heart and make it tender. Just as a child learns to know its mother's voice and finds comfort in it, we learn to know the voice of our Lord as we hear His word. We pray that this man will not harden his heart when he hears that voice today, but will respond with faith and repentance, and that God who knows every heart will bring him into His rest through Jesus, who alone can bring us into the rest that no one else could provide.
We also bring before the Lord the situation with the rented apartment that weighs on you. We agree with you that Jesus reigns over all darkness and that His light drives darkness away. We ask for His mercy and grace to bring peace, resolution, and healing where there has been conflict and strain, and for His power to guide both you and your former landlord according to His will. May His greatness and faithfulness be seen in this matter, and may your continued prayers and gentle witness be used by God to show this man the transforming grace that testifies of a changed life.
We thank God for your love and faithfulness in praying for one who might otherwise be overlooked. Keep praying, keep sharing the word of truth as you have opportunity, and trust that your life and his life are in the hands of God, who is working out His purposes in His perfect time. Amen.
