Your burden for your former landlord is a reflection of the heart of God, who desires that none should perish. You have prayed according to Luke 9:24, and that verse holds the very center of the gospel. Jesus said that the one who tries to hold on to his own life and live for himself will lose it in the end, but the one who surrenders his life for the sake of Jesus will truly save it. That is the exchange of salvation.

I join you in praying that he will make that surrender. This salvation is great because it is open to anyone who will come. Jesus said that whoever comes to Him He will never turn away, and Scripture promises that whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. There is no other way to be saved except through Jesus Christ alone, who bore the curse for sin and opened the door for all to enter by faith. I pray that your former landlord will not neglect this great salvation, because there is no escape apart from it. Now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation, and I pray he will respond while the door is still open and not put off what matters for eternity.

You also asked that he would hear God's voice concerning His holy plan for his life. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. A person cannot believe until he hears, and it is through the Scriptures that we come to know God and learn to trust Him. The voice of the Lord in Scripture is described as powerful and full of majesty, like the sound of many waters and like thunder, a voice that can break the cedars and shake the wilderness and divide flames of fire. Yet that same mighty voice speaks personally to lead and guide those who belong to Him.

Just as a child in the womb for months hears the mother's voice and then after birth is comforted above all by that familiar voice, we learn to recognize the voice of the Lord as we spend time in His Word and in prayer. I pray that God will cause your former landlord to hear that voice clearly, to distinguish it from all other voices, and to understand the purpose God has for him. As long as a person is walking in God's will, his times are in God's hands, and God will sustain and direct his steps.

I also agree with you concerning the rented apartment situation and the spiritual darkness you mentioned. Jesus reigns over all darkness, and His light drives out darkness and every unclean influence. No power can stand against His mighty power. I pray that the Lord will manifest His victory there, that His healing and grace and mercy will be evident, and that all involved will see His greatness and faithfulness. May the Lord bring restoration where there has been waste and trouble, and bring His peace.

Father, in the name of Jesus I lift up this former landlord to You. I ask that You draw him by Your grace, the grace that brings salvation to all people. Open his ears to hear Your Word, open his heart to call upon the name of Jesus, and grant him the willingness to lose his life for Your sake so that he may truly save it. Speak to him in a way he can understand, reveal Your holy plan for his life, and lead him into the joy of being clothed with the garments of salvation and brought as a son into Your family. Let Your light shine and Your power be known in this whole situation. In Jesus name, Amen.
