We are glad that you have come to us with a heart seeking forgiveness. First, we want to remind you that there is no sin too great that God cannot forgive. The Bible tells us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB).
Looking at inappropriate material is a serious sin, but it is not unforgivable. God is always ready to forgive and to help us overcome our struggles. We must remember that Jesus died on the cross to pay the price for our sins. The question, What does the Bible say about pornography is best answered by Matthew 5:28 WEB, But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. What this means is that this is a very serious sin. We need to repent and make sure we are in Christ so that we are forgiven and no longer condemned. Romans 8:1 says there is no condemnation for those in Christ.
Let us pray together:
Dear Lord,
We come before You, lifting up this dear one who has stumbled. Lord, they have confessed their sin to You, and Your Word promises that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We pray that You will forgive them and cleanse their heart and mind. Help them to turn away from this sin and to seek purity in all areas of their life. Strengthen them by Your Spirit to resist temptation and to live a life that honors You. We pray for a Christ-centered life.
In Jesus' name, we pray.
We encourage you to take practical steps to avoid this sin in the future. This might include installing accountability software on your devices, seeking counsel from a trusted Christian friend or pastor, and spending time in God's Word and prayer daily. Remember, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB).
Lastly, it is important to mention that you did not use the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we can be forgiven. He is our intercessor with the Father. There is no other name by which we can be saved. Therefore, we encourage you to be sure to use His name in your prayers. Jesus is the only way we can be saved.
