We are glad that you have taken the first step to come out of the shadows and confess your struggle with pornography. We want you to know that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1 WEB). Jesus himself said, "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10 WEB).
First, it is very important that we confess our sins one to another as you just did (James 5:16 WEB). Always remember that in order to be made right with God, we must believe in Jesus Christ. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6 WEB). There is no other way to the father except by Jesus Christ.
Pornography is a sin against your own body, and it is important to understand that. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 WEB says, "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."
Freedom from pornography, or any sin, comes from the Lord. Proverbs 28:13 WEB tells us, "He who conceals his sins doesn't prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy." You have confessed, now renounce this sin and turn away from it.
Let us pray together.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the mighty name of Jesus, confessing and renouncing the sin of pornography. We ask for your forgiveness and your healing. Lord, we ask that you would give us the strength to flee from this sin and from any temptation that would try to draw us back into it. Help us to honor our bodies as your temple, Lord, and to glorify you in all that we do.
Father, we ask that you would fill us with your Holy Spirit, that you would guide us and lead us in the way everlasting. Help us to be men and women of integrity, pure in heart, so that we may see you (Matthew 5:8 WEB).
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged by the words of 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." Trust in the Lord, and he will give you the strength to overcome. Stay strong.
