Forgiveness for self and ### healing

JuliaM

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for me and my son. My son's name is ###, he is an alcoholic. After 17 years the disease has progressed to the point of only taking a couple of days for him to get intoxicated before ending up in the hospital with pancreatitis at which time his probation officer is called which lands him in jail for breaking probation (currently in jail). When he gets released from jail this time he will be homeless. He has burned all bridges leaving him very much alone. This burden is too much for me to carry anymore and I want to release him completely to God. I need to forgive myself for not being who ### needed me to be for him during his childhood, but I am having a hard time doing that. I feel forgiving myself says I am off the hook while he is still suffering. I stay confused not knowing how to "be" while he struggles to survive.

Grateful,
###

Welcome.

Your words have been heard. Thank you for sharing.

The Serenity Prayer is a powerful prayer, this I know to be.

There is a fellowship in which many with this disease have come

to know well. I hope and pray your loved one finds the help needed,

for alone this disease is too much for one to handle. May God comfort

you and allow mercy, with the strength and courage to overcome,

knowing that hope is always there. I pray these words are heard...

in Jesus name...Amen
