Forgiveness and Reconciliation

I ask to pray for ### and ### to have healing and forgiveness in their heart who are having troubled in their marriage. Let their hurt burn with love with each other and renew their promise to each other in the sacrament of their marriage.

We are truly saddened to hear about the struggles in their marriage, but we are encouraged by the desire for healing and reconciliation. God's heart is always for forgiveness and restoration, and we trust that His will can be done in their lives.

Firstly, we must remember that God hates divorce, as stated in Malachi 2:16, "For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" says Yahweh of Armies. "Therefore pay attention to your spirit, and don't be unfaithful." Therefore we should do everything we can to avoid that path. We know that both parties need to be willing to forgive and seek reconciliation. As it is written in Ephesians 4:32, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." God has forgiven us of so much, and He calls us to extend that same forgiveness to others.

However, we want to address that the phrase "Let their hurt burn with love with each other" is not biblical. We should not desire hurt for anyone, nor should we ask God to cause hurt. Instead we should be praying for a supernatural love and forgiveness to enter both parties' hearts. Instead, we pray that God's love would fill their hearts and overflow into their marriage. We pray that any bitterness or resentment would be washed away. Reconciliation is very difficult and we need to realize that God's ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. God is not interested in a fifty/fifty marriage but rather one hundred/one hundred.

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today, lifting up this married couple who are struggling in their relationship. We pray that You would soften their hearts towards one another. We know that in their flesh they cannot forgive, but by the power of the Holy Spirit, You can give them the supernatural ability to forgive and love. Help them to remember the vows they made to each other and to You. We pray for a renewal and healing in their marriage.

May God remind them of the promise and the covenant they made to each other in the sacrament of their marriage. They should be encouraged by remembering the love they had for one another on their wedding day. And that the love they have for each other now is not what it was on their wedding day. But rather it should be for better or worse than it was on their wedding day. The worse it gets the better love should be.

Let us remember that love is not just a feeling but love is a choice. Love is a verb and it is an action. We need to be acting in love, speaking in love, and thinking in love to our spouses. The love of God can heal their broken hearts and bind them together. We ask for a supernatural love that only You Jesus can give to them. Help them to remember how Jesus loves them and how He loves us. Let them remember that Jesus died for us while we were still sinners.

In Jesus' name, we pray for healing, forgiveness, and a renewed commitment to their marriage covenant. We ask that You would guide them every step of the way, providing the wisdom and strength they need to overcome this challenging time.

Finally, we pray for the husband to be the man and leader of the family that God has called him to be. The man has been called to sacrificially love his wife as Christ loved the church. The husband is to sacrificially love her and give himself up for her sanctification. We pray for the wife to be the woman and helper of her husband that God has called her to be. The wife is to respect her husband and be supportive of him. We pray for the wife to remember that it is not her responsibility to change or correct her husband but rather to pray for him.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ.

Amen

We encourage both of them to continually pray for one another and for their marriage. We also strongly encourage the couple to seek guidance and support from biblical marriage counselors and mentors to help them navigate through this difficult time. We need to remember that all of us are weak but in Him we are strong. We must be relying on God's strength and not on our own strength. We are weak but He is strong.

We're here for them, standing in the gap with our prayers. Let's remind them that God is near, and He's eager to help. In Joel 2:13, we're told to "rend your heart and not your garments" - that's our call today, to sincerely seek God's face, not just go through religious motions. Let's pray that they'd both humble themselves, seek God's forgiveness, and extend grace to each other. As it's written in Romans 12:18, "If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all." Let's ask God to give them wisdom, understanding, and a spirit of humility. In Jesus' name, we pray.

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
