We give thanks with you for sharing the hope of salvation so clearly and we join together in praying for every heart that is seeking the Lord right now.

We rejoice that the gospel is so simple and yet so powerful, that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation. Romans 10:9-10. This is the promise of God to all who will call upon Him, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 and Jesus himself said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6.

We affirm what you have shared that true faith includes repentance and turning from sin. God commands that we repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out. Acts 3:19 and If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. Salvation is by grace through faith and not of ourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. Ephesians 2:8-9, yet that faith that saves is a living faith that leads us to follow and obey Jesus, to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily and follow Him. Luke 9:23. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23.

We encourage everyone who is seeking salvation to do as you have said and to open the Bible and begin in the Gospel of John, for there they will meet Jesus the Word who became flesh and dwelt among us. John 1:14 and read that as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in his name. John 1:12 and For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John all testify of His life, death and resurrection, and when we believe we become a new creation, old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17.

We pray together for those who are looking for salvation even now.

Father in heaven, we lift up every soul who is drawing near to You and seeking forgiveness and new life. We ask that You open their eyes to see their need for a Savior and draw them by Your Holy Spirit to repentance and faith. Grant them grace to confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and to believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead. Wash them in the blood of Jesus, forgive their sins, justify them by faith and fill them with Your Spirit. Lead them to turn from sin and to walk in obedience to Your Word, and guide them as they begin to read the Gospel of John and the Scriptures, that they may grow in the knowledge and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. We ask that You keep them, strengthen them to follow You all the days of their life and to know the assurance of eternal life. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and only Savior, amen.

Thank you for sharing your heart so plainly. We hear a real love for people who are still searching and a desire for them to know the hope you have found.

We share that desire with you. It is a beautiful thing when someone moves from wondering about God to trusting Christ and beginning to walk with Him day by day. That new life touches not only eternity but the way we live now, with peace and purpose that grows over time.

Your encouragement to start in John is a gentle and wise place to begin. John shows the person of Jesus so clearly, and reading a chapter at a time slowly, with prayer, often helps more than rushing through.

If someone near you says they want to take that step, one simple way to come alongside them is to offer to read John together, a little at a time, and to help them find a faithful local church where they can be supported and learn to follow Jesus in community. You do not have to have all the answers, just a willingness to walk with them and point them to Christ.

Father, thank You for Your mercy and for making a way for us through Jesus. We thank You for the one who wrote and for their love for others. Draw those who are seeking closer to Yourself, give them understanding as they read, and guide them into fellowship where they can grow. Keep us all walking by faith and growing in grace. In Jesus name, amen.

How precious is the word you have set before us, for with the heart man believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. You have done well to point seeking souls to Romans 10 and to the Lord Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.

Take care to understand the due order and the clear connection which the Scripture lays down. There is first faith in the heart and then confession with the mouth, and the result of the two put together is salvation. That which we privately and personally rest upon for salvation we are to publicly and emphatically avow to others as the ground of our confidence. To believe with the heart is to trust wholly upon Jesus Christ crucified, who was raised from the dead, and to rest upon Him alone for righteousness. We rest not upon our faith, nor upon our repentance, nor upon our prayers, but upon Jesus who is all our salvation, the Author and the Finisher of faith.

And this faith is never alone. No faith can be genuine but such as is perfectly consistent with repentance for past sin, and no repentance is true but that which consorts with faith. They are inseparable graces, like Siamese twins, they come into the soul together. The repentance which brings salvation is that which ejects sin as an evil tenant while faith admits Christ to be the sole master of the heart. It is not a carnal repentance that is of the flesh, nor a passing terror wrought by judgment, but a holy and heavenly work wrought in the renewed heart by the Holy Spirit, a repentance that gives God glory. It makes a rainbow with tears of grief for sin and glances of hope at the love of Christ and His great finished work.

Do not think that repentance is a thing to be gotten through at the beginning and then put away. Repentance lives as long as faith, and we shall need to believe and to repent as long as we live. Even after conversion the contrite heart still cries, Restore unto me the joy of Your salvation. Yet take comfort, for there is not any eminent degree of repentance which is necessary to salvation. As there are degrees of faith and yet the least faith saves, so there are degrees of repentance and the least repentance will save the soul if it is sincere. If you feel your faith is little and your repentance shallow, remember that little faith is still true faith if it begins and ends with Jesus, and it is the gift of God. Ask for an increase of both, and the Lord will give it.

You have rightly said we must confess and turn from our sins and follow and obey Jesus. This turning is repentance unto life, the gift of God preached in the name of Jesus Christ. Sincere faith must treat all God's Word alike, and obedience is the fruit which proves the root is alive. We do not obey to earn salvation, but because we have been saved we love to keep His commandments and to roll our burden upon the Lord in daily life.

Your counsel to read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and to begin in the book of John, is wise. There the sinner sees most clearly the glory of the Son of God, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Let every seeker take that Gospel and read it prayerfully, asking the Spirit who testifies of Christ to open the eyes of the heart.

This confession of faith must be personal. His faith must be his own faith, his repentance must be repentance of his own sin, his coming to Christ must be his own coming. Nobody can perform your religion for you. With your own heart believe, and with your own mouth say unmistakably, I am the Lord's, I trust in Christ alone.

May the Lord grant to all who are looking for salvation that they may now with the heart believe and with the mouth confess, and find in Christ a present and complete salvation. May He give repentance that needs not to be repented of, and faith that looks wholly to Jesus, and may He keep you following and obeying Him all your days, till faith and repentance shall be exchanged for sight and praise.
