The Burning Books
Destroy harmful influences in your life and commit to purity in what you read and see.
We rejoice with you and thank God for your heart to share the good news of salvation with those who are seeking. We agree that this is the most important message anyone can hear and we stand together with you in praying for every soul who is searching for truth and eternal life.

You have pointed to the precious promise in Romans 10:9-10 that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation. We love that you also emphasized to confess and turn from sins and to follow and obey Jesus, for true faith brings repentance and a changed life. As it is written in Acts 3:19, Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, and in 1 John 1:9, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We gently correct the small typing error in your post for clarity so that seekers will hear it clearly, that it is with the mouth we confess Jesus is Lord, not is, and with the heart we believe God raised Him from the dead. Salvation is by grace through faith alone, yet that faith is living and leads us to repentance and obedience. As Ephesians 2:8-9 reminds us, for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast.

We also affirm your wise counsel to read and study Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, beginning with the book of John, for there we meet Jesus clearly as the Son of God and the only way to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. And John 3:16 declares, For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

We join together in prayer for all who are looking for salvation.

We pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, that every seeking heart would hear the gospel and understand it, that the Holy Spirit would convict of sin and draw them to repentance, that they would confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that God raised Him from the dead, that they would turn from their sins and receive forgiveness and new life, and that they would follow and obey Jesus all their days as His disciples. We pray that as they open the Bible, especially the Gospel of John, you would open their eyes to see Jesus, to know His love, His cross and His resurrection, and to abide in Him. Bring them into fellowship with other believers who will help them grow, be baptized and walk in your will. We ask this in the saving name of Jesus, amen.

Thank you for posting this encouragement and for the care for others that comes through in it. We join you in wanting people to know the hope we have in Jesus, and we appreciate how simply and clearly you pointed to Him.

What you described, confessing, believing, turning from sin and following Jesus, is the beginning of a whole new life. We are thankful for salvation not only as forgiveness for eternity but as God making us whole and setting us free to walk with Him now in everyday life. Pointing people to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John is so helpful, and starting in John is a clear place to meet Jesus as He is and hear His own words and works.

If there is someone specific on your heart who is searching right now, a simple next step is to invite them to read a chapter of John with you at a time and talk openly about what you both notice and what questions come up. And as you keep sharing with others, staying rooted in a local church where the Word is taught faithfully will help you keep growing yourself while you help others grow.

Father, thank You for making a way for us through Jesus and for raising Him from the dead. We ask You to draw those who are seeking to Yourself, give them faith to believe and courage to turn to You and follow You day by day. Strengthen our friend who wrote this, encourage their faith, and use their witness for Your glory. In Jesus' name, amen.

It is a cause for thanksgiving to hear a heart so burdened for the salvation of souls, and to see the precious truth of Romans set forth so plainly, that with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

There is a due order here which the Holy Spirit has appointed and which we must keep. Faith first, confession following. With the heart we believe that God hath raised Jesus from the dead, resting wholly upon Christ crucified, not upon our prayers or our tears or our amendment, and then with the mouth we confess the Lord Jesus before men. That confession must be personal. No man can perform your religion for you. One shall say, I am the Lord's, and that saying must be his own, wrought in him by the Spirit of God. The same things which through faith are the ground of our salvation become the subject of our open avowal.

And let it be laid down as a great truth plainly written, that no faith can be genuine but such as is consistent with hearty and sincere repentance for past sin, and no repentance is true but that which consorts with faith. They are as Siamese twins, they come into the soul together. Repentance lives as long as faith lives. It is not a thing done once and then forgotten, but a sweet and abiding companion. The repentance which God accepts gives Him glory, for it owns His justice in condemning sin and His mercy in providing a Saviour. It purges the soul from dead works while faith fills it with living works, the one pulls down what is evil and the other builds up what is holy. Christ was nailed to the cross for sin, and that sight is what brings a godly sorrow that needeth not to be repented of.

Then faith, if it be sincere, must treat all God's Word alike and it will bear gracious fruit. Faith is the morning star of obedience. Noah believed God and being moved with fear he prepared an ark in exact obedience to the command. So must we obey the Lord carefully and exactly, not turning to the right hand or to the left. He that truly trusteth Christ will desire to follow and obey Him with all his mind and all his heart. We look upon the obedience of the heart to the will of God not as the price of salvation, but as the fruit and proof of it. The more of faith in Him you have, the more of obedience to Him will you manifest, and that obedience will begin at home and show itself in a life made new.

Simple faith is always the work of the Spirit. We through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. So pray that the Spirit would work faith in those who seek, that they might look away from self altogether and look to Jesus who is all our salvation, the Alpha and the Omega, the Author and Finisher of faith.

Your counsel to read and study Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and to begin in the book of John, is wise. There the glory of the Son of God is most plainly set forth, that men may see who He is and believe on Him. Urge seekers to read there with prayer, asking the Lord to open their eyes, to give them a personal faith and a personal confession, and to grant them that repentance which is unto life.

May the Lord grant to every seeking soul that true faith which justifies, that true repentance which glorifies God, and that open confession which witnesses to His saving power. May He lead them to trust Christ alone for salvation, to turn from sin, and to walk in loving, childlike obedience all their days, till faith and repentance shall be exchanged for sight and glory.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your heart for those who are seeking salvation reflects the love of God who desires all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. I join you in praying for every person who is searching, that they would hear and respond to the gospel.

What you have shared from Romans 10:9-10 is the sure foundation. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. With the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. This faith is not mere words, but a true turning of the heart toward God.

That turning includes repentance, a godly sorrow for sin that leads to salvation. It is to condemn our own sins, to turn from them, and to bring forth fruits worthy of repentance as we follow and obey Jesus Christ, who alone is the way of salvation. Confession of Christ as Lord means entrusting ourselves to him fully and walking in his ways.

Your encouragement to read and study Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, beginning with John, is wise. There we hear Christ's own witness, see his good confession before Pilate that he came to bear witness to the truth, and learn what it means to believe in him and abide in him.

I pray that God will draw each seeker to himself, open their eyes to their need, grant them repentance and faith, and give them grace to confess Christ openly and to follow him in obedience. May those who seek find, and may they be built firmly upon the confession of Christ, growing in faith and in a life that honors him.
