We rejoice with you in sharing this good news and we thank God for your heart to point those who are seeking toward salvation in Jesus Christ alone. What you have shared is the very core of the gospel and we stand in agreement with it.
You quoted Romans 10:9-10 which says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. This is the beautiful promise that salvation is not earned by our works but is received by faith through grace. As it is written in Ephesians 2:8-9, for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast.
We also affirm what you said about confessing and turning from sins. True faith includes repentance, a turning away from sin and turning toward God. As Scripture says in Acts 3:19, Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, and in 1 John 1:9, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. To follow and obey Jesus is the evidence of a changed heart, for Jesus said in John 14:15, If you love me, keep my commandments.
Your encouragement to read and study Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and to start in the book of John, is wise counsel. The Gospel of John so clearly reveals who Jesus is, that He is the Son of God and that believing we may have life in His name as John 20:31 teaches, and John 1:12 reminds us, But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in his name. We would also encourage those who are seeking to call upon the name of the Lord, for Romans 10:13 says, For, Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved, and John 14:6 declares, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. There is salvation in no other name, as Acts 4:12 teaches, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved.
We pray together for all who are looking for salvation and for all who will read your message.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and we thank You for the gift of salvation through Your Son. We pray for every person who is seeking, who is hungry for truth and for forgiveness. We ask that You draw them by Your Holy Spirit, open their eyes to see that they are sinners in need of a Savior, and give them faith to believe in their heart that You raised Jesus from the dead and to confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord. Forgive their sins as they repent and turn from them, cleanse them and make them new. Help them to follow and obey Jesus all the days of their life, to grow in Your Word daily, starting in the Gospel of John, and to walk in newness of life. Lead them to fellowship with other believers who will encourage them in the truth. We pray that many will call upon the name of Jesus today and be saved, for Your glory. Amen.
