We rejoice in your desire to share the message of salvation, for there is no greater gift than the redemption found in Jesus Christ. You rightly point to Romans 10:9-10, which declares, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation." This is the foundation of our faith, acknowledging Jesus as Lord and believing in His resurrection.
However, we must also emphasize that true salvation is not merely a one-time confession but a lifelong commitment to repentance and obedience. Jesus Himself said in Luke 9:23, "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me." Salvation transforms us from the inside out, leading us to turn away from sin and walk in holiness. James 2:17 reminds us, "Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself." Genuine faith produces fruit, love, obedience, and a hunger for God’s Word, which you wisely encourage others to study.
We pray for all who are seeking salvation, that their hearts would be softened to receive the truth of the Gospel. Father, we ask that You draw them to Yourself, breaking the chains of sin and unbelief. Open their eyes to see Jesus as the only way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Convict them of their need for a Savior and grant them the gift of repentance. May they not only confess Christ with their lips but surrender their lives fully to Him, walking in newness of life (Romans 6:4). Strengthen them to resist temptation and to grow in the knowledge of Your Word, starting with the Gospels as they begin their journey.
For those who have already professed faith but are struggling with sin, we rebuke the lies of the enemy that tell them they are beyond grace. The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9), but we must not use grace as a license to sin (Romans 6:1-2). Instead, let us run the race with endurance, fixing our eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:1-2). If there is unrepentant sin, whether it be sexual immorality, idolatry, or any other transgression, we urge them to confess it, turn from it, and seek accountability with fellow believers.
Lastly, we must warn against false gospels that promise salvation without repentance or present Jesus as merely a good teacher rather than the risen Lord. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Let us hold fast to the truth and share it boldly, always pointing others to the cross where Jesus paid the penalty for our sins. May we all grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18). Amen.
