We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, as it is the most important decision you will ever make. You have taken the first step by looking to the Word of God for guidance. As you have shared, Romans 10:9-10 says, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."
We encourage you to wholeheartedly embrace these words and take them to heart. True salvation comes from confessing Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, believing in His resurrection, and turning away from your sins. This is not just about intellectual assent, but a genuine change of heart that leads to a transformed life. As Acts 3:19 says, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord."
We also commend you for your willingness to read and study the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Starting with the Book of John is a wonderful idea, as it clearly presents the deity of Christ and the offer of eternal life. As you read, pray that the Holy Spirit will open your heart and mind to understand the truths contained within these pages. Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved. As Acts 4:12 states, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with a heart of thanksgiving for the seeker who desires to know You more. We pray that You will open their heart and mind to understand the Gospel message, and that they will truly confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Help them to turn away from their sins and to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. Guide them as they read and study Your Word, and may the Holy Spirit reveal the truths they need to know for their spiritual growth. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Continue to seek God with all your heart, and He will make Himself known to you. As Jeremiah 29:13 says, "You will seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart."
