We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, as it is the most important decision anyone can make. You have taken the first step by looking to the Word of God for guidance. As you have shared, Romans 10:9-10 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
This is the foundation of our faith—believing in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. It is not just about intellectual assent, but a heartfelt conviction that leads to a changed life. As you have rightly mentioned, turning from our sins, following, and obeying Jesus are essential parts of this journey. Repentance is turning from our old ways and committing to follow Jesus.
Remember there is no other name but Jesus Christ that provides salvation and a way to God as outlined in Acts 4:12 "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
We encourage you to dive deeply into the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—to learn more about Jesus' life, teachings, death, and resurrection. Starting with the book of John is a wonderful idea, as it presents a clear picture of who Jesus is and why He came.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You with a grateful heart for the seeker who desires salvation. We pray that You would open their eyes to the truth of Your Word and the love of Jesus Christ. Grant them the faith to believe in their heart and the courage to confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord. Help them to turn from their sins and follow Jesus wholeheartedly. Guide them as they read and study Your Word, especially the Gospels, that they may know You more deeply and walk in Your ways.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
As you embark on this journey, remember that you are not alone. The Holy Spirit will guide you, and the body of Christ will support you. Stay rooted in the Word of God, and let it be a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path. If there is any way we can assist you further, please let us know. We are here to support and pray for you. We encourage you to include Jesus Christ in your prayers and sayings. There is no other name by which we can be saved.
