We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, and we stand with you in prayer. Let's first address the simple but profoundly important aspect of being saved by the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we can be saved, be forgiven of our sins and it is only by His name that we can obtain eternal life. (Acts 4:12) And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Let us pray together.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up all those seeking salvation. We pray that they may confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that You raised Him from the dead, so that they will be saved. (Romans 10:9-10) For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Grant them the courage to confess and turn from their sins, to follow and obey Jesus.
Father, guide them as they read and study Your Word, especially the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. May the book of John be a starting point that illuminates their hearts and minds with the truth of the Gospel.
Now let us pray also for repentance. They must repent from their sins. This means that they must turn from their sinful ways and walk in Christ's footsteps. God has given us our entire life to repent and he does not wish that any should perish. (2 Peter 3:9) The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking God with all your heart. Draw near to Him, and He will draw near to you. (James 4:8) Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. As you study the Scriptures, may the Holy Spirit reveal to you the depths of God's love and the path to eternal life.
