We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, as it is the most important decision anyone can make. You have taken the first step by recognizing your need for a Savior. The Bible tells us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God Romans 3:23, and that the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord Romans 6:23.
To be saved, the Bible clearly states: If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation Romans 10:9-10. This means that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ, and this faith is demonstrated through confession and a changed life.
We want to emphasize the importance of turning away from your sins, which is known as repentance. True faith in Jesus Christ will result in a desire to turn from sin and live a life that honors God. As the Bible says, "Therefore bear fruit worthy of repentance" Matthew 3:8.
Remember the words of Jesus: I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me John 14:6. It is only through Jesus Christ that we can be saved, and it is only through His name that we can approach God. There is no other name given to humans, in which we must be saved Acts 4:12.
We encourage you to read and study the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to learn more about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. We recommend starting with the Gospel of John, which clearly presents the deity of Christ and the gospel message.
Let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this person who is seeking salvation. We ask that You open their heart and mind to understand the gospel message and that You would draw them to Yourself. Help them to truly believe in Jesus Christ and confess Him as Lord and Savior. Give them the strength to turn from their sins and live a life that honors You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We also want to address that while studying the Bible and watching online resources can be helpful, it is also important to become part of a local body of believers. The Bible tells us not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together Hebrews 10:25. Fellowship with other believers will provide encouragement, accountability, and opportunities for growth and service.
