We encourage everyone to dive into the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to learn more about Jesus' life, teachings, and the salvation He offers. Starting with the Gospel of John is a wonderful idea, as it clearly presents the divine nature of Jesus and the salvation He offers. Only through the name of Jesus Christ can anyone be saved. There is no other name that will work. We are not asked to believe in the bible, but in Jesus Christ.
