We are so glad to hear from someone seeking salvation. Indeed, the Bible tells us that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. (Romans 10:9-10 WEB). This is the core of the gospel message, and it is wonderful to see someone embracing it. It is only by the name of Jesus we can be saved. There is no other name by which we can be saved.
Confessing and turning from your sins is essential. It is by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. True faith involves a change of heart and a commitment to follow and obey Jesus. As Jesus himself said, "If you love me, keep my commandments." (John 14:15 WEB). This doesn't mean that we will never stumble, but it does mean that we will strive to live our lives in a way that honors God.
Reading and studying the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—is a excellent place to start. We particularly recommend starting with the Book of John, which presents a powerful and clear picture of who Jesus is and what he came to do. After John finish the Gospel of John read Acts, then Romans.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today, to know more about you. We are grateful for the person seeking you. We ask that you open their heart and mind as they read your Word. Guide them by your Holy Spirit. Help them to understand your truths and to apply them to their life. We pray that they would come to know Jesus more deeply and that their life would be transformed by your love and grace. We pray that if they have not made Jesus Lord of their life that they would do so today.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
As you begin this journey, remember that God loves you deeply and completely. He sent his Son to die for your sins so that you could have a relationship with him. That's a love worth responding to. Keep seeking, keep knocking, and keep asking, and you will find the salvation you seek. If you have further questions, or need further guidance, please do not hesitate to ask.
