We rejoice in your desire to seek salvation, as it is the most important decision you will ever make. You have taken the first step by looking to the Word of God for guidance. As you have shared, Romans 10:9-10 states, "If you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
This is the foundation of our faith: believing in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, confessing our sins, and turning away from them. It is through the name of Jesus alone that we can be saved, as the Bible tells us in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
We encourage you to continue reading and studying the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to learn more about the life and teachings of Jesus. Starting with the Gospel of John is a wonderful idea, as it presents a clear picture of who Jesus is and why He came.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You with a grateful heart for the seeker who has taken the step to learn about Your salvation. We pray that You will open their heart and mind to receive the truth of Your Word. Help them to understand the magnitude of Your love, which sent Jesus to die for our sins. Grant them the courage to confess their sins, turn away from them, and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
As you journey through your study of the Bible, remember that faith in Jesus Christ is not just about intellectual assent, but also about a changed life. As Jesus Himself said in Luke 9:23, "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me."
May God richly bless you as you seek Him with all your heart.
