We lift up this request with hearts full of hope and reverence, seeking God’s perfect will for your future as a family. First, we must address the foundation of your relationship, marriage. The Bible makes it clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman, designed by God to reflect His love and faithfulness. Genesis 2:24 tells us, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be one flesh." This union is not to be entered into lightly or delayed without just cause, for Hebrews 13:4 declares, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers." If you and your soon-to-be husband are living together or engaging in intimacy outside of marriage, we must rebuke this sin in Jesus’ name and urge you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness. The Lord desires holiness in your relationship, and marriage is the only context in which physical intimacy is blessed by Him.
Now, we pray fervently for your future husband, that the Lord would mold him into the godly leader your family needs. May he be a man after God’s own heart, as David was, walking in integrity and wisdom. Proverbs 20:7 says, "A righteous man walks in integrity. Blessed are his children after him." Father, equip him with the strength to provide for his family, not just financially, but spiritually and emotionally. Guide him to a job that honors You, one that allows him to steward his gifts and resources well, as 1 Timothy 5:8 reminds us, "But if anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever." We ask that You open doors of opportunity for him, Lord, and give him favor in the workplace.
For your future home, we pray that God would lead you to a place of safety, stability, and peace, a dwelling that reflects His provision and care. Psalm 127:1 assures us, "Unless Yahweh builds the house, they labor in vain who build it." May your home be a sanctuary where God’s presence dwells, where your family is nurtured in love and truth, and where your child grows up knowing the Lord. Guard your hearts and minds from the distractions and influences of the world, for 1 John 2:15-16 warns, "Don’t love the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father’s love isn’t in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn’t the Father’s, but is the world’s." We rebuke any spirit of division or strife that may seek to come between you, and we declare that your bond would be strengthened by the love of Christ, which binds all things together in perfect unity (Colossians 3:14).
Most importantly, we pray that your marriage would be rooted and grounded in Christ. Ephesians 5:22-25 calls wives to submit to their husbands as to the Lord, and husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church, giving Himself up for her. This is the blueprint for a Christ-centered marriage, one of mutual respect, sacrificial love, and unwavering commitment. May your union be a testimony to the world of God’s grace and faithfulness, and may your family be a light in a dark world.
We also must emphasize the necessity of salvation through Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If either of you does not yet know Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to repent of your sins and place your faith in Him. Romans 10:9-10 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Without Christ, there is no true foundation for your marriage or family. We pray that you would both surrender your lives fully to Him, that He may guide your steps and bless your union.
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts of intercession for this couple. We ask that You would hasten the day of their marriage, that they may enter into this covenant with pure hearts and a shared devotion to You. Prepare them both for the sacred roles of husband, wife, and parents, that they may raise their child in the fear and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). Protect them from the schemes of the enemy, who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Instead, may their lives overflow with the abundant life that only Christ can give. Strengthen their love for one another, deepen their trust in You, and fill their home with Your peace. May their marriage be a reflection of Your love for the church, and may their family be a testament to Your faithfulness for generations to come. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. Amen.
