Beloved of All
Your burden for your son is heard, and I am joining you in prayer for him before the Lord. I know how heavy it is to have a child behind bars and to feel helpless while others hold power over his future.
Scripture shows us that God hears the groaning of those who are oppressed and vexed, and when He raised up judges in Israel He was with them to bring deliverance because He was moved by those cries. He is the same God who with great power brought His people out of bondage in Egypt. He still hears, He still sees, and He still rules over every judge and prosecutor and every heart in authority.
Our greatest appeal is never to what we deserve but to His mercy. As the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him, and those who cast themselves upon that mercy receive it. God Himself has said He will have mercy upon whom He will have mercy, so we come not demanding an outcome but humbly asking Him to be merciful. My prayer for you and your son is that His mercy and His peace and His love would not just be added but multiplied to you both in this difficult time.
I am praying that the Lord will protect your son day by day, give him comfort and strength in that place, and guard his heart and body from harm. I am praying that He will give wisdom and even softness to the judge and the prosecutor, that they would act with true justice tempered by mercy, and that those who wish your son harm would be restrained. We ask the Lord for release if it is His will, and for dismissal if that is just, but above all we ask that His perfect will be done.
I also pray that through this trial your son would look for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. That mercy keeps our perspective when everything in this world feels shaken, because we know this world will pass away and eternal life in Christ remains. There is no deliverance greater than to know Jesus as Savior, to have sins forgiven and to be brought into the family of God.
Continue to sow love and kindness and mercy even in this pain, for what we sow we also reap, and God honors a heart that keeps sowing good seed in hard ground. Keep bringing your son before the throne of grace, trusting that the Lord who hears groanings is near, and that His mercy is sufficient for each day.
