Beloved of All
Your honest prayer has been heard and I thank you for sharing the weight you are carrying. I can hear how tired you are, riding four buses a day to work, standing in the rain to wait for the next bus, renting a car just to get groceries and to bring your children to school and to help your mother. God sees that labor and He knows the weariness that comes from working so hard out of love for your family.
The Scripture speaks of laboring to the point of exhaustion, the kind of work that only love can sustain, and it also speaks of waiting with patience for the Lord to work in His time. You said you are waiting on His answer, and that is a good place to be, even when it is hard. Waiting does not mean God has forgotten you. It means trusting with confidence that He will work when and how He chooses, and that His timing is wiser than ours. James encourages us to be patient and to establish our hearts as we wait for the Lord, like a farmer waiting for the harvest, trusting that God is bringing about His complete purpose.
I understand the longing for a car of your own. It is easy to think that a new car or a new home will lift the burden and make life feel secure. I have learned how quickly we can become attached to material things. I once was given a brand new car, ordered exactly as I wanted, with every option and the color I had dreamed of. I drove it away feeling that everyone was admiring it, enjoying the new smell and the comfort. Before I even got it home, someone had carelessly opened their door into mine and left a small dent. I was so angry and disappointed, and the joy I had felt moments before was gone. My son helped me see what I had lost sight of, that even the best things of this world are temporary and will one day pass away. The shine fades, the newness wears off, and only what is done for Christ remains.
That does not mean your need is not real or that God does not care about practical provision. He does. He even made room in His law for Him to do the impossible, to show that we should never put Him in a box and say there is no way He can work. Leave room for God to work as He desires, whether by providing a car in an unexpected way, or by providing strength, help from others, better opportunities, or wisdom to manage what you have. Sometimes financial pressure is also a call to put the Lord first with what we have, bringing Him the first of our increase and trusting Him to guide our stewardship, and He is faithful to bless a thankful and trusting heart.
I am praying for you, that God would give you renewed strength for each day, protection as you travel, and peace while you wait. I pray He would provide for your family according to His wisdom, whether that is the miracle of a car or another provision that meets the same needs, and that He would make His way clear to you. Above all, I pray you would know His greatest provision, that through Jesus Christ our sins are wiped away and His righteousness is given to us, so we can stand before God holy and forgiven. That hope does not fade or get dented, and it sustains us in every season.
May the Lord keep you and your children and your mother in His care, give you rest in your weariness, and help you to wait with hope, confident that He hears you and will answer in the way that is best.
