FOR MY LIFE AND MY FAMILY

Disciple of Prayer
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My name is ###, and I am from ###. I currently serve as ### at a ###. By God's grace, I was also ordained as a pastor in ### and have had opportunities to preach God's Word in neighboring cities. I humbly request your prayers for my life and family. I got married in ###, but our marriage has been going through serious difficulties. We do not have any children. We underwent ###, but sadly, the pregnancy ended in a ### during the ###. This has been a deeply painful experience for both of us, and we frequently find ourselves in conflict. Over the past year, my ministry opportunities have almost completely stopped. I have also been struggling emotionally and spiritually. I feel discouraged, isolated, and overwhelmed. My work is being affected, and I have withdrawn from family, friends, and society. I have been finding it very difficult to read the Bible, pray, or attend church regularly, and this has made me feel even more distant from God. Please pray that the Lord will restore my relationship with Him, heal my marriage, comfort us after our loss, bless us with wisdom and peace, and, if it is His will, bless us with children in the future. Please also pray for my emotional well-being, that God would strengthen me, renew my hope, and help me serve Him faithfully again. Pray that He will guide me in my work, restore my ministry, and lead me according to His perfect purpose. Thank you for remembering me and my family in your prayers. May God bless you abundantly. In Christ, ###

We lift you up before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, knowing the weight of sorrow, conflict, and spiritual dryness you are carrying. Your openness about your struggles, both in marriage and ministry, reveals a heart that still seeks the Lord, even when the path feels dark. We stand with you in prayer, trusting that God sees your pain and hears your cries, for He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

First, we rebuke the spirit of discouragement and isolation that has taken root in your life. The enemy seeks to steal your joy, kill your hope, and destroy your calling, but we declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). The loss of your child is a grief no words can fully comfort, yet we pray that the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3-4) would wrap His arms around you and your wife, binding your wounds and drawing you closer to one another in this shared sorrow. May He replace strife with tenderness, bitterness with forgiveness, and silence with honest, loving communication. Your marriage is a covenant before God, and we pray for restoration, not just of happiness, but of holiness in your union. Let Christ be the cornerstone of your home, and may you both submit to Him and to one another in reverence for Him (Ephesians 5:21).

We also rebuke the lies that have kept you from God’s Word and prayer. The enemy whispers that you are too weary to seek the Lord, but we declare that those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31). Even now, the Holy Spirit intercedes for you with groanings too deep for words (Romans 8:26). Do not despise the small beginnings, open your Bible to just one verse, whisper a single prayer, and trust that God honors even the faintest cry of a weary heart. The Lord is not far from you; He is your ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

For your ministry, we pray that God would rekindle the fire within you. The enemy may have silenced your preaching for a season, but he cannot silence the call of God on your life. We declare that the gifts and calling of God are irrevocable (Romans 11:29). Ask the Lord to reveal any areas where you may have relied on your own strength or sought validation from man rather than from Him. Repent of any pride or self-sufficiency, and surrender your ministry afresh to His purposes. He will open doors no man can shut (Revelation 3:8) and restore the years the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25).

Regarding children, we entrust this desire to the Lord, knowing He is the giver of life. If it is His will, He will bless you with a child in His perfect timing. Until then, may you and your wife find purpose in serving Him together, whether through mentoring others, fostering, or simply being a light in your community. Children are a heritage from the Lord (Psalm 127:3), but even if He chooses to withhold this gift, He will not withhold His love or His plan for your lives.

Now, let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother and his wife, lifting up their marriage, their grief, and their weary hearts. Lord, You are the God who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. We ask that You would pour out Your healing balm on their marriage, mending what is torn and softening their hearts toward one another. Help them to grieve together, to forgive one another, and to find their strength in You alone.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of discouragement that has stolen their joy and isolated them from Your presence. Restore their hunger for Your Word and their passion for prayer. Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Renew their hope, Lord, and let them taste Your goodness even in this season of struggle.

For his ministry, we ask that You would revive his spirit and open doors of opportunity that no man can shut. Let him preach with boldness, not in his own strength, but in the power of the Holy Spirit. Restore the years that have been lost, and use him mightily for Your glory.

Lord, regarding children, we surrender this desire to You. If it is Your will, bless them with a child, but if not, give them the grace to trust in Your perfect plan. May their home be a place of peace, love, and worship, a testimony to Your faithfulness.

Finally, Father, we ask that You would strengthen their emotional and spiritual well-being. Lift the heaviness from their hearts and replace it with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, knowing that You care for them (1 Peter 5:7).

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Dear Brother in Christ,

We have read your request and our hearts go out to you. You are carrying so much at once, the aching loss of your baby, the strain in your marriage, the silence where ministry once thrived, and a creeping numbness that has stolen your desire to pray or open the Bible. Any one of these would be heavy; together they are a crushing weight, and it is no wonder you feel isolated and overwhelmed. Please know you are not alone in this, and you do not have to walk through it in isolation.

One thing we have seen again and again in pastoral ministry is how hard it is for those who pour out for others to allow someone to pour back into them. Yet that is exactly what your own heart needs right now. The most practical step you could take this week is to find a trusted older ###, a ###, or a wise ### and simply let them know what you told us. Permission to be honest about the pain, the doubts, and the exhaustion is not weakness, it is how God often begins to rebuild what has been torn down. Even the briefest act of reaching out can break the cycle of withdrawal.

We are also careful to say: your grief over the pregnancy loss is real and deserves honor. It is normal to feel distant from God in seasons of sorrow. He has not moved away from you. He is present even in the numbness, and He does not need you to muster up feelings of faith right now. You are held.

We are praying with you, brother.

Father, in Jesus’ name we lift up this ###. You see the ache in his marriage, the empty arms after loss, the confusion over a ministry that has stalled, and the darkness that has crept over his own soul. Please comfort him and his wife in their grief, and gently draw them toward each other rather than into conflict. Surround him with people who will care for his heart, not just his role. Restore hope and spark even a tiny flame of desire to be with You again. Guide him to the right helper, and in Your time and wisdom, bring healing and clarity. We trust You with his life and his future. Amen.

My heart feels for you in the depths of your trouble. You have known the hope of the Scriptures, yet now you find yourself in a dry and weary land. But hear what the Word says: "That we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope." Your hope has not perished; it is buried like a seed in winter soil, waiting for the quickening breath of God. Remember, "This is my comfort in my affliction: for Thy Word hath quickened me." When you cannot read the Scripture with joy, cling to the promise you once knew. Plead it before the throne: "Remember the Word unto Thy servant, upon which Thou hast caused me to hope." God Himself gave you that hope, and He is faithful to revive it.

You say your ministry has all but ceased, your marriage groans, and your soul is shut up. But see here: God does not always comfort us by a distinct act; sometimes He quickens us, and so we receive comfort. The roundabout way is often His straight way. Your little prayer, your faint cry, even your groaning, these are the life of the hand you have found, but they are not your hope. There is no hope in yourself; you are weary with the length of your way. Yet there is hope in Him whom God has provided to be the Saviour of such as you. Cast yourself wholly upon Him. Do not say, "There is no hope," but let your hopelessness in self drive you to the arms of Jesus.

Your marriage and your empty home are a sore grief, and grief often breeds conflict. But the God of patience and consolation can grant you both to bear with one another and to speak tenderly. As you mourn the little one taken from you, do not let the wound fester into bitterness. Comfort ye, comfort ye one another, even as God comforts you. Your tears are seen, and He who wept at Lazarus's tomb will restore to you the years the locust hath eaten, if not by giving children, then by making you fruitful in a better way. Your very condemnation of yourself gives you hope; for the contrite heart is the temple where God delights to dwell.

Now, rouse yourself from this lethargy. Your grief has a cause, and it is plain: you have withdrawn from prayer, you have forsaken the assembling of yourselves together, you have let the Bible gather dust. The remedy is great prayer. It was little prayer that brought you down; it will be great prayer that lifts you up. Do not wait for feeling; go at once and meet your Lord. Tell Him plainly, as Peter did, "Lord, Thou knowest all things; Thou knowest that I love Thee." His omniscience should inspire you with hope, not terror. He can see the faint spark of love within your heart when you cannot. And He will not quench the smoking flax.

I charge you, brother, do not think you have lost your hope forever. The God of hope has given you everlasting consolation and good hope through grace. It is a gift, not earned by your faithfulness, but sealed by Christ's blood. You are not saved by holding on to Him, but by His holding on to you. Your perseverance is no more your own act than your first hope in Him. So look out of yourself entirely. Let your comfort come from this, that God has loved you and has given His Son for you. Then your heart shall be established, and you shall be ready for every good word and work. The ministry will return when you are restored; but seek first the Restorer. "He restoreth my soul," and then "He leadeth me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake." Go now, and make this your plea: "O Lord, perfect that which concerneth me. Forsake not the work of Thine own hands."

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

When storms arise within a household, the first place to look is not at the tempest but at the helm of the ship. You speak of marriage difficulties and a painful loss, and you trace much of your present sorrow to these. But listen carefully. If a man has a prudent wife, he cares for house and honor and character. Yet often, the unrestrained heart brings forth a bitter harvest. Fornication and adultery spring from no other root than a lack of self-restraint in youth. Now, you are not a youth, but this same principle governs all disorder. The profit of marriage is to preserve the body pure, and if this is not guarded, the very advantage of marriage slips away. Examine yourself. Have you loved your own comfort or reputation more than the chaste and orderly life that holiness requires? Marriage is pure and honorable, but it does not bestow holiness by mere title. It preserves the holiness given by faith only when we dwell with our own wife in self-control, not permitting the defilement of that gift by wandering desires, whether of the flesh or of the will. The loss of a child is a deep wound, but the true fruit of marriage is not first the child, but the mutual care of virtue. If the root of conflict is not cut out, no outward change will bring peace.

Your ministry has stopped, and you feel abandoned. Here is the great mercy of God, though it seems harsh. Every conflict and every envy among men springs from covetousness, envy, or vainglory. Has your glory been hindered? Then know that you have not lost true glory, which comes from God alone, but only the shadow of it. When a man steals your honor, he does not injure you but himself. The Lord teaches us to deprecate all conflicts rather than rush upon them. You were perhaps summoned to a season of quiet, not as a punishment but as a cure, that you might learn to despise the things of the earth. If we are at peace, we learn to trample on vain ambition. You have withdrawn from all, and even prayer and Scripture feel heavy. This is not the time to seek great works, but to stand nobly where you have been placed, even in obscurity. The righteous, when they are on the very edge of deliverance, often find their struggles enhanced, as it was with Abraham in his last trial. The removal of your public labor, when it is near its end, may be the very sharpening that makes the coming victory more glorious.

Do not despise the present narrowness. Follow peace with all men and holiness, which is chaste and orderly living in marriage. Attend to this first. The bishop’s office, or any ministry, is a good work, but he who cannot govern his own household well, how shall he care for the church? Your first duty now is not the pulpit but the chamber of your own heart and the fellowship of your wife. Let your care for her be a sacrifice offered with humility. Pray together again, even if the words come out of joint. Read the Scriptures, not for sermon-making, but for the healing of your own soul. The Philippians sent to Paul in his bonds, and he wrote to them not with complaint but with consolation, showing that bonds, when borne for Christ, further the Gospel more than ease. Your present bonds, this depression and barrenness, can become manifest in Christ if you cease to gaze upon them with sorrow and instead look upon them as the workshop of humility.

Renew your hope, not by waiting for a change of circumstance, but by active repentance where you have loved praise or comfort too much. If covetousness for restored reputation or envy of others’ fruitful ministries has taken root, tear it out. The Lord is at hand. He does not forget the work and love you showed before. Now at length, revive your thought for Him afresh. Bear this trial as the last push of a long conflict, knowing that things even intolerable become light when their removal is near at the very doors. Rise from the dust, wash your face, attend to your wife with the holiness that befits a believing husband, and wait upon God without distraction. Do not seek the great work while neglecting the small, for he that is faithful in little will be set over much. Your ministry will be restored when your soul is restored, and your soul will be restored when you humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, who gives grace to the lowly but resists the proud.

The sheer weight of what you have described, a marriage under severe strain, the silent grief of a miscarriage, and the feeling that even your calling has been stripped away, is more than any man can carry in his own strength. It leaves you feeling hollow, as if your prayers hit the ceiling and the Scriptures have become just words on a page. That kind of desolation is not a failure of your faith; it is a dark field where real battles are fought.

We can be deceived into thinking the fight is against the visible circumstances: the conflicts at home, the lack of ministry invitations, the inability to perform at work. But the actual battle is fought on a different field entirely. The victory that determines everything else is won in solitude, long before we see a change in our outward situation. Think of our Lord. Before His public ministry ever began, the Spirit drove Him into the wilderness to be tested. Later, when the crowds were pressing in and His work was taking off, He did not seize the opportunity for greater activity. He saw the necessity of withdrawing. Getting up long before daylight, He went to a solitary place and there He prayed. He knew that the work of God flows from a life that has first been nourished in secret.

What you are experiencing now is a season where the flesh and the spirit are in open conflict. The flesh screams for relief, for a way out of the pain, for some warmth to comfort the aching heart. But finding warmth at the enemy’s fire only puts us in greater jeopardy. The Lord is calling you back to the place of power, which is the place of prayer. Fasting and prayer are a deliberate reversal of the natural order. You have been diligent to feed your body, yet your spirit has been starving. By setting aside a time to neglect feeding the flesh so that you can feast your spirit on prayer and the Word, your inner man begins to gain ascendancy. Your spirit grows strong enough to overcome the despair that has been crushing you.

You cannot do more than pray until you have prayed. This includes restoring your marriage. It includes navigating the deep, unspoken grief you and your wife share over the child you lost. That grief, left in the dark, will harden into anger and conflict. Bring it to the One who looks upon the beaten-down, guilt-laden heart with eyes of compassionate tenderness and says, "Your sins are forgiven you." Let that relief wash over you both.

Do not wait until you feel like praying to start. Do not wait until the Bible feels "alive" again to pick it up. Plant the seed of the Word even when your mind feels like stony ground. There is a principle in God’s kingdom that time passes, and then, in ways we cannot manufacture, the seed brings forth fruit. The door to your ministry will not be forced open by your effort but by your weakened knees hitting the floor. Serve the Lord faithfully right where you are by first binding the strong man in your own prayer closet; then the rest becomes entering in and taking back what the enemy has stolen. Lay hold of the promise that He will restore the years the locust has eaten, and step by step, He will guide you back to your post.
