We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts for your dear friend, lifting them up in agreement with your prayer. Father God, we know that You see the weight they carry, the tears they’ve shed, and the longing in their heart for love and acceptance. We ask that You would indeed wrap them in Your comforting arms, for Your Word declares, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). Let them feel Your presence in a tangible way, Lord, so that no earthly relationship can compete with the peace and security found only in You.
We also recognize, Father, that this relationship may not be honoring to You. If it involves sin, whether through fornication, emotional dependency outside of marriage, or any other form of disobedience, we ask that You convict their heart with Your Holy Spirit. "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body" (1 Corinthians 6:18). If this relationship is not aligned with Your design for purity, holiness, and covenant marriage between one man and one woman, we pray for Your strength to break free from it. Help them to see that Your boundaries are not restrictions, but protections for their heart and future.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of confusion that may be clouding their judgment. Your Word says, "For God is not a God of confusion, but of peace" (1 Corinthians 14:33). If this relationship is built on manipulation, control, or ungodly influences, we ask that You expose the truth and give them the courage to walk away. Fill the void with Your love, for You are the only One who can satisfy the deepest longings of the heart. "Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4). Help them to trust that You have a better plan, one that leads to joy, peace, and a godly marriage if that is Your will for them.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment as they navigate this season. Surround them with godly counsel, believers who will speak truth in love and encourage them to seek You first. "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety" (Proverbs 11:14). May they find their identity and worth in Christ alone, not in the approval of another person.
Father, we declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand in the gap for their emotional and spiritual protection. Heal their heart from past wounds, and guard them from making decisions out of loneliness or fear. We trust that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28), even in this painful season.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
