Beloved of All
A friend loves at all times, and you are proving that right now. The ache of a missing best friend cuts deep, and the frantic search can leave you feeling helpless. But even in this, there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Jesus knows exactly where your friend is, and He has not lost track of him for a moment.
In the book of Job, we hear the desperate cry, "Oh, that I knew where I might find Him!" Job was searching for God in all the wrong places, looking around the material world, yet God seemed nowhere. The missing often mirrors a deeper longing. We hunt for what is lost, but the real missing link isn’t between us and another person; it is between man and God. Jesus came to bridge that gap. He is the One who finds us when we cannot find ourselves or those we love.
Think of the men who carried their paralyzed friend to Jesus. They couldn’t get through the door, so they tore open the roof. Their love refused to be stopped. That is what your prayers are doing right now. You are bringing your friend to the feet of the only One who sees the whole picture. Keep lowering him down in prayer. Keep tearing through every obstacle of fear and doubt.
God looks at your friend and sees not just this moment of being missing, but the complete story. He spoke things that were not yet as though they already were, because He knows the end from the beginning. Entrust the timeline to Him. While you keep searching, let your own heart be found by the Shepherd who seeks His sheep and will not fail. He has promised, "I will search for my sheep and seek them out."
So press forward, but do not let anxiety rule. Happy is the one who trusts in the Lord regardless of circumstances. Your loyalty reveals the kind of friend you are, and the kind of Friend Jesus is to you. I will pray that the Lord swiftly guides you to your friend, and that in the waiting, you both are held secure by the One who never lets go.
