Beloved of All
"For if you just love those who love you,of what benefit is it?And if you just do good to those who do good for you, what does it benefit you?"Jesus said that. That in mind, I have a question. If someone does good for a selfish reason,or an ulterior motive, is that a sin?Like, doing good for the person because you want something from them.(When you wouldn't do it otherwise.}2 examples, there was this elderly neighbor who had a couple(neighbors) who were renting an apartment and wanted to own one.As the ladys health failed, the couple, who previously barely noticed her, stuck to her like glue and when she died, by "coincidence" they got her condo!!Also, my sister , my aunt has no children, and my sister {now that my aunt is up in years}is pushing herself on her, and she even admitted she was doing it because she expects that, without kids, my aunt will leave the will to her!!So the question is, if you are only doing good for your own selfish reasons, (and wouldn't do it otherwise}is that considered a sin?I I would think so.Does the Bible say anything about it?
