For Healing, reassurance, comfort and peace

Beloved of All
I need God's help and wisdom as I am about to see people who lost a loved one very recently; they are non-believers, may they seek the Lord and be open to Him. I pray for my own comfort as I am still upset after a loved closed relative having passed recently; trusting that he is in Heaven. I also pray for another person, a widow, who cancelled her visit yesterday, may she be in contact and better. In Jesus Name. Amen.

We join with you in lifting up these burdens before the Lord and we thank you for seeking Him in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find true comfort and salvation.

We understand the weight you are carrying as you prepare to minister to those who are grieving while you yourself are still mourning the recent loss of your close relative. The Lord sees your tender heart and your desire to be a vessel of His comfort to non-believers in their sorrow. We pray for wisdom for you in this meeting, for the promise is true that if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him, James 1:5. We ask that the Holy Spirit will give you the right words, spoken with gentleness and grace, that you may reflect Christ's love and that their hearts may be softened and opened to seek the Lord in their grief. We remember that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of Christ, Romans 10:17, and that Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. May your presence and quiet testimony point them toward the only true source of hope.

We also lift up your own heart for healing, reassurance, comfort and peace. Our God is the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4. He is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit, Psalm 34:18, and Jesus promised blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted, Matthew 5:4. We trust with you that your loved one who has passed, if he believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, is present with the Lord, for to be absent from the body is to be at home with the Lord, 2 Corinthians 5:8, and Jesus said I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies, John 11:25. We pray the Lord will guard your heart with His peace which surpasses all understanding, Philippians 4:7, and remind you that He will wipe away every tear and that sorrow will one day be no more, Revelation 21:4. We do not grieve as those who have no hope, for we have hope in Christ, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14.

We also remember before the Lord the widow who cancelled her visit. We pray for her health and well being, that the Lord will touch her body and spirit and that she will be in contact again soon. We are reminded that pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this, to visit widows and orphans in their affliction, James 1:27, and we pray she will feel remembered, cared for, and not alone.

We pray together, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. We ask for Your healing hand upon our dear one who is grieving, fill them with Your reassurance and perfect peace that passes all understanding. Grant wisdom and discernment as they go to comfort those who have recently lost a loved one and do not yet know You, open the hearts of those mourning non-believers, draw them to seek You and to be open to the gospel of Your Son. Comfort our friend in their own loss, affirm to their heart the hope we have in Christ and the assurance that those who are in Christ are with You. We ask You to watch over the widow, keep her safe, restore her strength, and bring her back into fellowship, let her know she is loved and upheld by You. Let Your comfort flow through us to others and let Your name be glorified in all these sorrows. We ask all this in the precious and saving name of Jesus, Amen.

We are holding your request with care as you carry both your own fresh grief and concern for others who are newly grieving.

It makes sense you feel upset and in need of comfort and wisdom at the same time. Grief does not follow a neat timeline and it often takes much longer than people expect to reorganize life around a loss. Each person moves at their own pace, so it is understandable you and the family you will visit may be in very different places even while sharing sorrow.

For your visit, it can help to keep expectations gentle. You do not need to find perfect words for their loss or for questions of faith. Often the most caring thing is simply to be present, to listen, and to allow quiet moments. A short, honest expression of care is enough, and leaving space for them to share if they want to can be a kindness. Afterwards give yourself some unhurried time to rest and notice how you are doing, since supporting others while you are grieving can stir your own sorrow again.

We also remember the widow you mentioned, and we join you in hoping she is doing better and that contact resumes in a good time. A brief, warm check-in when you feel able can let her know she is still on your heart without pressure.

Father, we lift our friend to You asking for Your comfort and peace to steady their heart, for wisdom and gentleness as they visit these grieving friends that those friends might be open to Your presence, for continued assurance about their loved one, and for care and renewed connection for the widow. In Jesus name, Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

There is a word from the Lord for such a time as this, Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. He has laid this charge not only upon His ministers but upon all His people to comfort one another, and full oft the bright winged seraph is sent to comfort some desponding heart. Your prayer has been heard, and we join with you in laying it before the throne of grace.

For your own sorrow under the recent loss of a close and beloved relative, we would point you to that peculiar comfort which belongs to believers in affliction. This is my comfort in my affliction, for Thy Word hath quickened me. It is not merely the letter of the Word, but the Spirit breathing through the Word who quickens the soul and so comforts it. The external comfort of the Christian is the Word of God, and the internal comfort is the life which the Spirit gives by that Word. May the Spirit of God teach you to press that Word to your bosom and say, This is my comfort now, at this present time. You trust that your loved one is with the Lord, and if he died in faith in Jesus Christ, then to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, for salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and there is comfort indeed in knowing that those who sleep in Jesus shall God bring with Him. The Lord who has shown His wondrous wisdom in redemption does not err in His providence, and what Infinite Wisdom does must be right, though we cannot yet see the whole.

For your need of wisdom and help as you go to those who have so lately lost a loved one and who as yet know not the Lord, we pray that the God of all comfort would give you both comfort and constancy, that He would comfort your heart and establish you in every good word and work. Comfort alone is not enough, and constancy without comfort will not suffice, but our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God even our Father, can comfort to purpose and make you steady to speak a word in season. Ask largely of Him who giveth wisdom liberally, for it was little prayer that brings us down and great prayer that lifts us up. May the Lord make you gentle and wise in that house of mourning, that you may not only weep with those who weep, but speak of Him who is the resurrection and the life, that these dear souls may seek the Lord while He may be found and open their hearts to His grace.

For the widow of whom you speak, who cancelled her visit and is not yet in contact, we pray that the Lord who is a husband to the widow and a Father to the fatherless would watch over her, comfort her in her solitude, and restore her strength. May she be kept in peace and be moved to make herself known again, that Christian fellowship and care may surround her.

Let us pray together. O Lord our Father, comfort Thy servant who mourns, quicken Thy servant by Thy Word, and let Thy promises be near and precious. Grant wisdom and grace in visiting the sorrowful who know Thee not yet, and by Thy Spirit open their eyes to seek Jesus, in whom alone is life eternal. Keep the widow in Thy tender care, give her health and peace, and bring her again into fellowship. Establish all our hearts in Thy love, and cause us to forget our misery as waters that pass away, for Jesus sake. Amen.

I join you in prayer before our Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks for your honest heart and your desire to seek Him in grief.

For your own sorrow over your close relative who has recently fallen asleep, may the God of all comfort grant you peace. If he was in Christ, we have a sure hope, for as Scripture says, those who have fallen asleep in Christ will rise and we shall be ever with the Lord. Grief is real and deep, and the wound can feel beyond comfort, yet the Lord loved His own unto the end and left us consolation for such hours. Take the Scriptures to yourself as a chest of medicines for the soul. Read the Gospels and the Apostolic letters daily, keep them in your mind, and let the promise of life which is in Jesus Christ lift your thoughts from present peril to eternal hope where mourning flees away. A pure conscience before God and trust in His promises brings not only comfort but strength.

For your visit with those who are grieving and do not yet know the Lord, I pray God will give you wisdom and gentleness. The Lord shows His greatest love even as He prepares to depart, and He calls us to do likewise, omitting nothing that earnest love would do. Go with quiet love, listen well, weep with those who weep, and speak of Christ only as the door is opened. Pray that their hearts would be softened and that they would seek the Lord and be open to Him, for salvation is through Jesus Christ alone. Your presence itself can be a comfort, for when believers are entwined with one another in faith, mutual comfort flows, and even a simple visit can revive a heavy heart.

For the widow who cancelled her visit, I pray the Lord will watch over her, grant her health and peace, and bring her into contact again in His good time. May He comfort her in her loneliness as only He can.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, grant healing, reassurance, comfort and peace to Your child who prays. Steady the heart that is still upset, and confirm the hope that those who die in Christ are with You. Give wisdom and grace for the coming visit with those who mourn without hope, that they may be drawn to seek You. Bless and keep the widow, restore her strength, and keep her in Your care. All this we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our resurrection and our comfort. Amen.
