We hear your heart’s cry for peaceful rest, free from fear and troubling dreams. The Lord desires for you to sleep in the safety of His presence, for He gives His beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2). We rebuke every spirit of fear and torment that seeks to disrupt your rest, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). The enemy may try to plant anxious thoughts or nightmares, but we declare that your mind is guarded by the peace of Christ, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
We pray that as you lie down, the Lord would fill your heart and mind with His truth. May the words of Scripture be your comfort, such as Psalm 4:8: *"In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety."* Let the Holy Spirit minister to you even in your sleep, renewing your mind and refreshing your spirit (Psalm 16:7). We command every tormenting dream to flee in Jesus’ name and declare that your sleep will be sweet, as Proverbs 3:24 promises: *"When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet."*
We also encourage you to examine what you allow into your mind before sleep. Philippians 4:8 instructs us: *"Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report: if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things."* If you’ve been consuming media, conversations, or thoughts that stir up fear or unrest, confess this to the Lord and ask Him to cleanse your mind. Replace those things with worship, prayer, or Scripture meditation as you prepare for sleep.
Father, we ask You to draw near to this dear one as they seek rest. Let Your angels encamp around them, as You promise in Psalm 34:7: *"The angel of Yahweh encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them."* Remove every trace of fear, anxiety, or darkness from their mind, and fill them with Your perfect peace. Help them to surrender their worries to You, knowing that You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). May their sleep be deep and undisturbed, and may they wake refreshed and strengthened in You. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who calms every storm and quiets every fear. Amen.
