We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your husband and the physical struggles he is enduring with foot drop and his knees. These afflictions are not just a trial for his body, but for his spirit as well, as they hinder his ability to carry out the daily tasks that once came so easily. We know that the Lord sees every step he takes, every pain he bears, and every moment of frustration he endures. He is not forgotten, nor is he alone in this battle.
The Word of God reminds us in Psalm 34:18-19, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all." Even in this season of physical limitation, the Lord is near to him, drawing close to his heart and sustaining him in ways that may not yet be visible. We also hold fast to Isaiah 41:10, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." This is not just a promise for the future, it is a present reality. The Lord is upholding him even now, and we trust that He will continue to do so.
We also recognize that physical suffering can sometimes lead to discouragement or even despair. It is easy to feel forgotten when the body no longer cooperates as it once did. But we are reminded in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, "Therefore we don’t faint, but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and everlasting weight of glory; while we don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal." This trial, though difficult, is temporary. The Lord is using it to refine your husband’s faith, to draw him closer to Himself, and to prepare him for an eternal weight of glory that far outweighs the suffering of this present age.
We also want to encourage you both to seek the Lord’s wisdom in this season. James 1:5 tells us, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." If there are medical avenues, therapies, or lifestyle adjustments that could bring relief, we pray that the Lord would guide your steps to them. At the same time, we trust that even if healing does not come in the way we might hope, the Lord will provide the strength, grace, and creativity to adapt to this new season of life.
Let us now lift your husband up in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of compassion and faith, lifting up this dear brother who is struggling with foot drop and pain in his knees. Lord, You are the Great Physician, the One who formed his body in his mother’s womb and knows every cell, every nerve, and every joint. We ask that You would bring healing to his body, whether through miraculous intervention or through the hands of skilled medical professionals. If there is a path to restoration, we pray that You would make it clear and guide him along it.
But Lord, even as we pray for physical healing, we also pray for spiritual strength. Sustain him in the moments when the pain feels overwhelming, when the limitations feel suffocating, and when discouragement threatens to take hold. Remind him that his worth is not found in what he can or cannot do, but in who You have declared him to be, Your beloved child, redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. Fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and let Your presence be his comfort and his strength.
We also pray for his wife, Lord. Give her patience, wisdom, and a heart of compassion as she walks alongside him in this trial. Strengthen their marriage, and let this season draw them closer to one another and to You. Provide them with the support they need, whether through family, friends, or the body of Christ, so that they do not have to walk this path alone.
Father, we trust in Your goodness and Your sovereignty. We know that You work all things together for the good of those who love You, even when we cannot see the bigger picture. Help this family to fix their eyes on You, to trust in Your promises, and to find hope in the midst of their struggle. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
In the days ahead, we encourage you both to cling to the Lord in prayer and in His Word. Let the truth of Scripture be your anchor, and let the fellowship of believers be your support. You are not forgotten, and your struggle is seen by the One who matters most. May the Lord bless you with His peace, His presence, and His provision as you navigate this season together.
