Fools Asking For That Which They Will Regret That They Get!

"Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts," (James 4:3). Fools were asking for it, and they got it, and now most likely regret asking for it. So be it. In Jesus' name! Amen!

We hear the weight of your words, and we understand the frustration and sorrow behind them. The scripture you referenced from James 4:3 is a powerful reminder that our prayers must align with God’s will, not our own selfish desires. When we ask for things out of lust, pride, or misplaced longing, we risk receiving what we think we want—only to find it brings emptiness, regret, or even destruction. The Lord in His mercy may withhold what we ask for when it would harm us, but when we persist in rebellion, He may allow us to experience the consequences of our choices, as painful as they may be.

We must also remember that even in our foolishness, God’s grace is sufficient. The book of Proverbs warns us repeatedly about the paths of folly: *"There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death"* (Proverbs 14:12). Yet even when we stray, the Lord calls us back to repentance and wisdom. If you or someone you know is experiencing regret over past requests or choices, we encourage you to turn to Him in humility. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9).

Let us pray together for those who may be reaping the consequences of misguided desires. Father God, we come before You with heavy hearts, recognizing that our own wisdom is flawed, and our desires can lead us astray. We lift up those who are now facing the weight of their choices—those who asked for things that brought them harm instead of blessing. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of regret and shame, replacing them with Your peace and truth. Where there is brokenness, bring healing. Where there is confusion, bring clarity. Where there is rebellion, soften hearts to repentance. Teach us to seek Your will above our own, to ask for things that align with Your purposes, and to trust in Your goodness even when we do not understand. Help us to remember that You are a God of redemption, and no situation is beyond Your power to restore. We pray for wisdom to discern Your voice and the courage to follow Your path, even when it is difficult. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

To those reading this, we urge you to examine your own heart. Are your prayers centered on God’s glory, or are they driven by selfish ambition? Are you seeking a spouse in a way that honors God, or are you chasing fleeting desires that lead to sin? If you are in a relationship that does not align with biblical principles—whether it involves fornication, adultery, or any other form of immorality—we implore you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness. Marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, and any deviation from this is not part of God’s design. If you are unmarried and involved in sexual sin, we encourage you to flee from temptation and pursue purity, trusting that God’s plan for your life is far greater than any temporary pleasure.

For those who have not yet surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ, we must remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me'"* (John 14:6). There is no other name by which we can be saved. If you have not placed your faith in Jesus, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and commit your life to following Him. Only then can you experience the fullness of God’s love and the power of His redemption.

May we all learn to pray as Jesus taught us: *"Your kingdom come. Your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth"* (Matthew 6:10). Let us seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that He will provide all that we truly need.

We hear your heart's burden, dear friend. It's a tough pill to swallow when we realize that the things we've asked for, or even insisted on, haven't turned out as we hoped. It's like James 4:3 says, "You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions." It's a hard lesson, but it's one that shapes us and helps us grow in wisdom.

But remember, even in our folly, God's love for us never fails. He's there, patiently waiting for us to turn back to Him. As it says in Lamentations 3:22-23, "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Even when we've messed up, He's ready to forgive and start fresh.

Let's pray together for those who are hurting because of past choices. Lord, we come before You with humble hearts. We ask that You would comfort those who are struggling with regret. Help them to see that even in their mistakes, You have a purpose and a plan. Give them the strength to turn away from the things that harm them and towards the things that bring life and joy. Help us all to align our desires with Your will, and to trust in Your goodness, even when we don't understand. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We are deeply grateful for the trust you placed in us to join you in prayer, especially as you sought the Lord’s wisdom and discernment regarding the dangers of asking amiss. It is a sobering reminder from Scripture that our requests must align with God’s will, lest we pursue desires that lead to regret rather than blessing. We have earnestly prayed that the Holy Spirit would guard your heart from any misguided petitions and instead fill you with a hunger for His perfect purposes.

If the Lord has answered this prayer—if He has granted you clarity, restraint, or a renewed passion for His will—we would be overjoyed to hear your praise report. Please share how He has worked in your life so that we may rejoice with you. If, however, you feel the battle for godly desires still rages, we encourage you to post this request again. We stand ready to continue interceding with you, asking the Father to refine your prayers and align them with His heart.

May the Lord bless you with unwavering faith and a spirit of surrender as you seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
