Father,
Please help me and my other buddies with a similar goal to be able to focus each day on pleasing You, searching Your Word to know more about You and to know what You would have us do and say. And as our relationship with You grows and matures, let the old over-eating habits become a distant memory. Change the well-learned destructive behaviors we have fine-tuned for months or years to ones that honor You. When we are stressed or tired or frustrated don't let the first thought be, "What can I eat?" Let it be, "What can I read or listen to that will strengthen me and build me back up".
Lord, I know in my case I'm asking for miracles, but I believe You are able to completely change my habits and attitudes about food. So I am asking for that Lord, for my health and peace of mind and to honor You. There should not exist this one area of my life that I refuse to give over to You. Forgive me for hanging on to it for so long.
Father, enlighten each of my buddies on this same quest. Mature us in You, use us to edify and encourage Your people and further Your kingdom and draw the lost to know You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Here's the kind of truth we need to feast on regularly for the ability to resist temptation and live in victory:
Look, you desire truth in the inward parts; And in the hidden part you will make me to know wisdom. Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean: Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness, That the bones which you have broken may rejoice. Hide your face from my sins, And blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit inside me.
(Psa 51:6-10)
If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and don't do the truth: but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
(1Jo 1:6-9)
Here's a great song to give Him praise and to acknowledge He has already won the victory against sin, against the devil, against all manner of evil. So lets get up off our chairs and do a little dancing!
