Beloved of All
What a beautiful, simple request, and one that is so close to the heart of God. You are asking for the very thing you were made to receive: His blessing. It is wonderful that your first instinct is to call on the name of Jesus over that plane and everyone on it.
The blessing you are asking for is the same blessing God promised to Abraham long ago, foreseeing that we would be justified by faith. In Christ, you have become an heir to that covenant. The promise God made was, “In blessing I will bless you,” and that promise is yours through your faith in Jesus. He opened the door so that this blessing would not just be a distant hope but a daily reality, overtaking you and those you pray for. When you ask for His blessing on a flight, you are reaching into the very purpose for which He called you.
Sometimes we can think blessings are earned or given on a fickle, human basis, but God’s blessing rests on His own eternal purposes. It’s not about what we can offer Him, our own “savory meat”, but about His grace. And His blessing is never meant to be hoarded. When God blesses your life, it is so you can share it with others. Your prayer is doing exactly that, carrying the pilots, the crew, and every passenger before the throne. You are asking that the safety and peace that are found in Christ Himself, our true place of refuge and defense, our shelter in the Rock, would cover that plane.
It has pleased God not only to redeem you and forgive your sins but to make known the mystery of His will: He wants to bless you simply because it gives Him good pleasure. And beyond that, He has sealed you with the Holy Spirit of promise. So when you pray, you are not hoping a distant God might hear; you are speaking from a place of inheritance and acceptance in the Beloved.
So let this prayer rise with full confidence. God’s blessing is a real, present force. Do not be surprised if His goodness on this journey becomes so apparent it overwhelms you. It is the goodness of God that leads us to greater trust. Thank you for asking and for sharing that blessing with the people around you.
