"First of All, I Urge Prayers... for Kings & All in Authority"

Why would Paul, Directly chosen by Christ to "stand before governors and kings" (Acts 9:15), ask "prayers for Kings and all in authority so we can lead a quiet life" (1 Timothy 2:1-4)? Then he refers to the fact this is "good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior who wants all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth..." The answer is that Paul knew what has already been written in Proverbs 11:10 and following and what God had to say about respecting the office of authority (whether you agree with the person appointed or not) and that this has a positional association with the land to some degree as to how well or poorly the land fares based on the actions of it's superiors...

"When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.

Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.

Whoever derides their neighbor has no sense, but the one who has understanding holds their tongue.

A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.

For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers" (Prov 11:10-14).

Praying for leaders, as the verses show above, has a trickle down effect... Pray for not only Trump, but the leaders of the Cities that have a high population of illegal immigrants... Again it's not whether one fully agrees with the human that has the office or not, as the example above denotes... Harry S. Truman had it best...

“When you get to be president, there are the honors, the 21-gun salutes,

all those things. You have to remember it isn't for you. It's for the presidency.”

Harry S. Truman -- the respect was not for Truman but for the God appointed office of President...

Pray for the president -- latest headlines... "New York City officials push back again st President Trump's immigration plans"

This is clearly a case of twisting history... Saying NY is a city for immigrants -- yes, LEGAL immigrants... Our forefathers applied for VISA'S and GREEN CARDS and respected their dates and deadlines... Pray for our country who knows not right from wrong and doesn't know how to respect law or executive orders.

Pray for President Trump who sees things in a clear, business-like way that we as a country can't afford to float the bill for people who do not want to take the time to get things in order or pay taxes for a number of years or go through the process to become a citizen once they are here or marry a citizen... These things were given as an aid to people becoming citizens but it has become a system that is abused... I know this is tricky but there are laws and they can't be jeopardized -- a little leaven leavens the whole lump -- Please pray for the President as God commands and for the country as conscience dictates the same -- Please forget our little petty requests for a while and pray for our country and leaders -- in Jesus' name.
