We join you in lifting this heartfelt cry before the Lord, for there is nothing more precious than returning to that place of passionate devotion and intimacy with our Savior. How grieved we are when we hear the words of Jesus to the church in Ephesus: *"But I have this against you, that you left your first love."* (Revelation 2:4, WEB). This is not merely a call to remember, but a divine invitation to repent—to turn back to the fervency of a love that once burned brightly for Him. The Lord does not desire lukewarm affection, but a heart fully surrendered, just as He commanded, *"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength."* (Mark 12:30, WEB).
Let us examine our hearts together, for it is easy to become distracted by the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, or even the routine of religious duty without true devotion. Jesus warned, *"No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other."* (Matthew 6:24, WEB). Have we allowed anything—even good things—to take the place of Christ in our affections? Have we replaced time in His presence with empty pursuits? The Lord is jealous for us, and He calls us back to Himself with tenderness and urgency.
