We join you in praying that our Heavenly Father will indeed help you return to your first love for God, as mentioned in Revelation 2:4, "But I have this against you, that you left your first love." It is beautiful to see your desire to be captivated by His love once again.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who desires to return to their first love for You. Lord, we ask that You reveal Yourself to them in a new and profound way. Touch their heart, Lord, and captivate them again with Your love. Remind them of the joy and peace that comes from being in Your presence, and help them to draw near to You with a sincere heart, in full assurance of faith.
Father, we ask that You forgive them for any time they may have strayed or grown cold in their love for You. Help them to remember that Your mercies are new every morning, and that You are faithful and just to forgive their sins and cleanse them from all unrighteousness.
Lord, we also pray for ourselves, that we too would maintain our first love for You, and that we would be a people characterized by our devotion to You. Help us to remember that our love for You should be our greatest passion, and that all other loves should pale in comparison.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to pursue God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 22:37-38 WEB, "Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment."
As you seek to return to your first love for God, consider the things that may have drawn your heart away from Him. Ask God to help you identify any idols in your life, and to give you the strength to remove them. Remember that God is a jealous God, and He desires your whole heart.
Lastly, we want to remind you that it is only in the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God. It is by His blood that was shed on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, and it is by His resurrection that gives us the opportunity to life everlasting. As scripture says in Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" Continue to pray in Jesus' name and remember the assurance that He alone is the one who saves.
