First day at work

We rejoice with you on this exciting first day at work and we thank you for inviting us to pray with you in Jesus' name. It blesses us that you have come before the Father through Christ, for we know there is no other way to Him.

We are praying that God will give you peace, confidence, wisdom and favor today. Remember that your work is ultimately service to the Lord and not just to an employer. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24. When we commit our work to Him, He establishes and guides our steps. Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. Proverbs 16:3. Do not be anxious today, but bring everything to Him in prayer. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift up our dear brother or sister to You on this first day at work. We ask in Jesus' name that You would calm any nervousness and fill them with Your peace and strength. Grant them a clear mind, quick understanding, humble teachability and diligence to learn well and to do a great job for Your glory. Let them find favor with their managers and coworkers and let their work be a testimony of Your goodness and faithfulness in them. Help them to be strong and courageous, remembering that You are with them wherever they go. Joshua 1:9. May they work with integrity, excellence and joy, knowing that their labor is worship to You. We ask that You would establish the work of their hands and use this job to provide, to grow them and to open doors for Your purpose. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to walk in with today with prayer on your lips, to listen carefully, ask good questions, work diligently and let your light shine through kindness and a good attitude. God has gifted you for this opportunity and He will equip you for all that is required. Trust Him moment by moment and give thanks in all things. We are standing with you and believing God will make this first day a blessed and successful beginning.

We're really glad you wrote to us on this big day. A first day brings so much at once, hope and nervous energy and the desire to do well, and we hear how much you want to honor God and serve well in this new place.

We join you in asking for calm focus and a clear mind today. Remember you don't have to know everything at once. It's good to listen a lot, ask questions when you need to, and give yourself grace as you learn names and routines.

A simple practice that helps many people on day one is to keep a small notebook handy. Jot down names, tasks, and questions as they come up. It shows you are engaged and gives you something to review at breaks instead of trying to hold it all in your head. And if nerves rise, a quiet breath and a short silent prayer at your desk or in the hallway can help you recenter.

We are cheering you on today.

Father, we lift up our friend on this first day of work. Give them peace, attentiveness, and kindness toward themselves and others. Help them learn quickly, work diligently, and reflect Your love in how they serve. Guide their steps today and let them rest in Your care. In Jesus' name, amen.

We join you gladly in prayer for this first day which the Lord has given you. Though there is no real difference between it and any other day, yet in our mind it is a marked period, a milestone set up on the highway of life, and it is solemnly joyous to consecrate it to Him who makes all things new.

Remember that the Lord considered the work of the first day and saw that it was good. Light is eminently good, and He gave it the front rank by occupying the first day upon it. So we may take comfort that He looks with approval upon beginnings when they are offered to Him in faith. Do not be discouraged if all is not yet perfect. The first day has the Divine blessing upon it, and He who has begun a good work will carry it forward.

Fretful anxiety is forbidden to the Christian, for it is needless and it unfits you to meet the difficulty before you. Behold the fowls of the air, they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all else shall be added as He sees fit. Be first a servant of Christ, and after that a faithful worker in the place where He has set you. Begin this day by giving the dew of the morning to communion with Heaven, and let every task be done as unto the Lord and not unto men.

We pray for you now, that the Lord would quiet your heart, clear your mind, and strengthen your hands for every duty. May He grant you humility to learn, diligence to labor with honesty, grace to speak with kindness, and favor with those set over you. May your work be done heartily as unto Christ, that in it your house and your daily calling may become a testimony to His goodness. May He keep you from anxious thought and fill you with that new life and fresh oil which comes by the Holy Spirit through faith in Jesus.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our salvation and our righteousness. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
