We hear your heart, dear sister or brother in Christ, and we join you in lifting this burden before the Lord. Your words reflect a deep trust in God’s provision, yet also the very real struggle with anxiety that so many believers face. We want to first affirm that your gratitude for God’s blessings is beautiful—He *does* see you, sustain you, and work all things for your good (Romans 8:28). But we also recognize the weight of fear that has taken root in your mind, and we stand with you to uproot it in the authority of Jesus’ name.
The enemy would love nothing more than to keep you bound in cycles of "what if," especially when God has already shown His faithfulness time and again. The fire today was small, but the fear it ignited in you feels large—and that is no accident. Scripture warns us that "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB). This fear is not from Him. We rebuke the spirit of anxiety that seeks to steal your peace and declare that your mind is guarded by the peace of Christ, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
We also want to gently address the practical side of this struggle. While it is wise to take precautions (like having an electrician inspect your home), we must be careful not to let fear dictate our actions. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Obsessive worry can become a form of idolatry—where we elevate our fears above our trust in God. We encourage you to surrender this specific fear to Him daily, even hourly if needed, and replace it with prayer and thanksgiving (Philippians 4:6).
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace. We lift up our brother/sister who is battling fear and anxiety, particularly the fear of fire. Lord, You are their refuge and fortress (Psalm 91:2), and we declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We ask that You calm their mind and fill them with Your perfect peace. Father, we pray for the electrician’s visit tomorrow—that You would grant wisdom and clarity to uncover the cause of the fire, and that all would indeed be well. If there is a hidden issue, reveal it; if it was a fluke, let this be the last time they face this fear.
We also pray for a supernatural release from the grip of anxiety. Holy Spirit, remind them of Your nearness and Your power. When the enemy whispers "what if," let them respond with "God is my helper; I will not fear" (Hebrews 13:6). Renew their mind with Your truth, and help them to cast every care upon You, for You care for them (1 Peter 5:7).
Lord, we thank You for Your faithfulness in their life. You have blessed them abundantly, and we trust You to continue to do so. May they walk in the freedom Christ died to give them (Galatians 5:1), and may their heart be anchored in Your promises. We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus, the One who conquered sin, death, and fear. Amen.
In the days ahead, we encourage you to meditate on Psalm 91, which is a powerful declaration of God’s protection. Speak it aloud over your home and family. Also, consider keeping a gratitude journal—writing down even small ways God has protected and provided for you. This can help shift your focus from fear to faith. And remember, it is not wrong to take practical steps (like checking your home’s electrical system), but do so from a place of trust, not terror.
You are not alone in this battle. The Lord is your light and your salvation—whom shall you fear? (Psalm 27:1). We stand with you, believing that this trial will only serve to deepen your trust in Him.
