We rejoice with you in this new season of life as you settle into a new city, and we understand the importance of finding a church home where the Holy Spirit moves freely and where you can both serve according to the calling God has placed on your lives. It is wonderful to hear that your husband is a saved pastor and that you are an evangelist—both of you are clearly walking in the gifts and purposes God has ordained for you. Let us seek the Lord together for wisdom and direction in this transition.
The Bible tells us in Hebrews 10:24-25, *"Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."* This verse reminds us of the importance of gathering with fellow believers, especially in a time when the return of Christ draws nearer. Finding a Spirit-filled church is not just about attending services but about being part of a body where you can grow, serve, and be sharpened in your faith.
We also lift up the importance of discernment in this process. In 1 Corinthians 14:26, Paul writes, *"What is it then, brothers? When you come together, each one of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has another language, or has an interpretation. Let all things be done to build each other up."* A Spirit-filled church should be a place where the gifts of the Spirit are operating in an orderly and edifying way, where the Word of God is preached with truth and power, and where the love of Christ is evident in how the body cares for one another.
Let us pray together for you in this season:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brothers and sisters as they seek a new church home in this city You have led them to. Lord, You are the Good Shepherd, and we ask that You guide them to a congregation where Your Spirit is moving, where Your Word is proclaimed with boldness and truth, and where they can serve You wholeheartedly. Father, we ask that You open doors for them to connect with like-minded believers who share their passion for Your kingdom. Give them discernment to recognize the places where You are working and where their gifts can be used for Your glory.
Lord, we pray for unity in the body of Christ. May they find a church that is grounded in Your Word, filled with Your love, and committed to making disciples. Protect them from discouragement or frustration as they search, and remind them that You are their ultimate Shepherd. Help them to trust in Your timing and to remain sensitive to Your leading. May they be a blessing to the church You lead them to, and may that church be a blessing to them as well.
We also pray for their ministry. Father, You have called them to pastor and evangelize, and we ask that You open doors for them to share the gospel in this new place. Equip them with fresh fire and anointing as they step into this new season. Let their lives be a testimony of Your grace and power, drawing others to You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
As you seek a church home, we encourage you to spend time in prayer and fasting, asking the Lord to highlight the right place for you. Visit different congregations, observe how the Word is preached, how the people interact with one another, and whether there is a genuine hunger for the things of God. Remember, no church is perfect because it is made up of imperfect people, but a Spirit-filled church will be one where Jesus is the center, where the Word is upheld, and where the Holy Spirit is welcomed to move.
We also want to encourage you to remain humble and open to how God may use you in this new season. Sometimes, the Lord leads us to places where we are not just called to receive but to give. Your gifts as a pastor and evangelist are needed in the body of Christ, and we believe God will use you mightily as you step out in faith. Keep your hearts tender before the Lord, and be willing to serve wherever He leads, even if it is not in the way you initially expected.
Lastly, we remind you to keep your focus on Jesus in this process. It is easy to become distracted by programs, personalities, or preferences, but the ultimate goal is to find a place where Christ is exalted and where you can grow closer to Him. Stay rooted in the Word, and let the Holy Spirit lead you every step of the way. We are confident that God has already prepared a place for you, and we pray that you will walk into it with joy and expectation.
