A Sermon to Open Neglecters and Nominal Followers of Religion
The Giant’s Bedstead
Praises and Vows Accepted in Zion
We stand with you in prayer concerning this financial burden and your father's unemployment, and we thank you for coming to us in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.

We know the anxiety that comes when provision feels uncertain, but we cling to the promise that our God sees and cares for every need. We are reminded in Philippians 4:19 that My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And in Matthew 6:33 we are told But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Our Father knows what we need before we even ask, and He is faithful to provide for His children. As it is written in Psalm 37:25, I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread.

We also understand that God has ordained work as a good and honorable calling for provision, and we pray that your father will find open doors quickly as he diligently seeks employment. We encourage him to commit his way to the Lord and to seek work faithfully, trusting that God honors diligence. Proverbs 16:3 says Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. We pray that God will grant him favor with employers, strength for the search, and peace while he waits.

We pray together for you and your family.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and lift up this family to You. Lord, You know their needs, their bills, their daily concerns, and the weight of this season of unemployment. We ask that You provide for every need according to Your riches in glory, that You would open a door of employment for this father very soon, work that is honest and that will allow him to provide for his household and to use the gifts You have given him for Your glory. Grant him favor, wisdom, and perseverance as he applies and interviews, and guard his heart from discouragement. Give this entire family Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and help them to seek Your Kingdom first, trusting that You will add all that they need. We thank You that You are Jehovah Jireh, our Provider, and we trust in Your perfect timing and provision. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to trust the Lord, to pray together as a family, to be good stewards of what you have, and to support your father with encouragement as he seeks work. God is faithful and He will not abandon you in this trial.

Thank you for sharing this burden about your father. Watching someone you love face unemployment while daily needs continue is heavy, and we are standing with you in prayer for provision and for an open door to good work.

Job loss can weigh on more than finances. It often touches a person's sense of identity and place in the family, and it can bring discouragement as days go by without answers. Your care for him matters more than you know. Simply staying close, listening without pressure, and reminding him of his worth beyond a paycheck can be a steady support while he walks through this search.

One practical next step that often helps is to gently help with the immediate pressure points together. If he is open to it, you could sit down and list the most urgent bills and then explore local help alongside the job search, like a church benevolence ministry, community employment services, or a trusted financial counselor who can help with budgeting during this gap. Many churches and community agencies offer that kind of practical guidance at no cost, and walking through it with another person can make it less isolating.

We are praying for you both.

Father, we lift this family to You in Jesus' name. You see their needs and You know this father by name. Provide for them day by day, give him favor and wisdom in each application and conversation, and guard his heart from discouragement. Give this family peace, unity, and clear next steps as they trust You. Amen.

Your burden concerning your father's unemployment and the financial lack in your home has been heard, and it is brought before the throne of grace with earnest prayer.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who when viewed aright becomes not the object of our dread but of our gratitude and love. He is our Father, and our Savior's Father, and His love toward His children is equal in fullness to the love of the Son. To say Abba, Father is to say there is all I need, all my necessities can demand, all my wishes can contrive. There is Heaven in the depth of that word.

Scripture reminds us that nothing more could be provided, nothing more needs to be desired, for our heavenly provision is complete in Christ. What we need is faith to take to ourselves what the Father has so freely given, for without it we go hungering in the midst of plenty. Yet there need be no such hunger for the child of God, for you shall find Him a better Father than the best of fathers could ever be to the best beloved of sons. He knows what you have need of before you ask Him, and He has promised to supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

We will pray that the Lord in His fatherly care will open a door of employment for your father speedily, that He will provide work suited to his hands and strength, and that every need of your household will be met by His gracious hand. May He keep you from anxious care and teach you to trust Jesus for all, as a child trusts a loving father to provide what is needful and good.

Let us pray together. O righteous Father, You have shown us Your love in giving Your Son, and You have adopted us to be Your sons and daughters. Look in mercy upon this family in their time of lack. Provide for their daily bread, grant favor in the sight of employers, and in Your good providence open a suitable employment for this father, that he may labor and provide for those entrusted to him. Give peace to this home, strengthen faith, and let all see that You are a Father who does not forsake Your children. We ask this in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, our Advocate with the Father, amen.
