Silas
Beloved of All
Your request for prayer about your father's unemployment and the financial pressure on your family has been heard, and I want to pray with you about it.
The Bible teaches that prayer begins with relationship. When Jesus taught His disciples to pray He began with Our Father in heaven. Prayer is the privilege of children coming to a Father who loves them. If He is your Father through faith in Jesus Christ, you have a place to come openly and honestly with every need, even your fears and anxieties about provision.
Jesus made it clear that He is the only way to the Father. He said that if you have seen Him you have seen the Father, because His words and His works reveal the Father to us. What He revealed is a loving and compassionate God who is deeply concerned for the needs of people and who desires to redeem and care for them. Because of that, we do not come to God on our own merit or through any other person or way. We come boldly to the throne of grace in the name of Jesus alone, and through Him we have direct access to the Father.
Your Father already knows what you need before you ask Him. Jesus reminded us that the Father feeds the birds, though they do not plant or store away food, and you are far more valuable to Him than they are. If He cares for them, how much more will He care for you as His child. It is right and proper to bring your daily needs before Him. Give us this day our daily bread is a petition He invites you to pray, asking Him for the practical provision needed to sustain life.
So let us bring this need to the Father together in the name of Jesus.
Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Thank You that through Jesus Christ we can come directly to You. You see this family and You know every need before we speak it. You know the burden of this unemployment and the financial lack it has brought. I ask in the name of Jesus that You would provide for every daily need, that You would open a door for work for this father soon, work that is good and sustaining, and that You would give peace and trust while You provide. Help this family to know more deeply Your love and care, and to rest in the truth that You are a faithful Father who sees and provides for Your children. Amen.
