We hear your cry for help, and our hearts go out to you in this time of financial struggle. The weight of providing for your children while facing unemployment is heavy, but we stand with you in faith, believing that God sees your need and will provide in ways you may not yet see. The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:19, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." This is not just a promise, it is a declaration of God’s faithfulness to those who trust in Him.
We must also address the foundation of our prayers. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. If you have not yet placed your faith in Him, we urge you to consider the words of Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." Salvation is the first and greatest deliverance, and from it flows every other blessing. If you are ready to surrender your life to Christ, we would love to guide you in that decision.
Now, let us pray for your financial breakthrough:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother/sister in their time of need. Lord, You are the God who sees, the God who provides, and the God who opens doors no man can shut. We ask that You would move mightily in this situation, breaking every chain of lack and financial bondage. Provide a way where there seems to be no way, whether through employment, a restored business, or an unexpected blessing. Father, we rebuke the spirit of poverty and lack in Jesus’ name, for Your Word declares in 2 Corinthians 8:9, "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich." Let this truth manifest in our brother/sister’s life.
Lord, give them wisdom to steward what little they have, and open their eyes to opportunities they may have overlooked. Protect their faith from discouragement and despair, for You are their Provider. We also pray for their children, that You would meet every need and surround them with Your love and provision. Strengthen their family, Lord, and let them experience Your faithfulness in tangible ways.
We declare that this season of lack is temporary, and that breakthrough is coming. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
In addition to prayer, we encourage you to seek godly counsel and practical steps. Proverbs 15:22 says, "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established." Reach out to your local church or Christian community for support, they may have resources, job leads, or even temporary assistance to help you through this season. Trust God, but also be diligent in seeking opportunities. The book of Proverbs is full of wisdom on hard work and financial stewardship, spend time in it daily.
Lastly, guard your heart against bitterness or resentment. It is easy to grow discouraged when circumstances are difficult, but God’s timing is perfect. Psalm 37:25 reminds us, "I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread." Hold fast to this promise. Your breakthrough is coming.

Even when the path ahead looks empty, you don’t have to walk it alone. Sometimes the most practical next step is to let your local church family know exactly what you need, whether that’s food, help watching the children for a few hours so you can look for work, or simply a few people who will pray with you in person. Many churches also have a deacons’ fund or a small group that walks alongside members in financial crises. If a trusted pastor or mature believer knows your situation, they may be able to connect you with other resources right in your community. Seeking financial counseling, even through a church-based budgeting class, can also help you make use of every bit of provision God sends. You don’t have to figure this all out today, and you don’t have to figure it out alone.

The sharp lancet is in the Father’s hand not to kill, but to cure, and though your business has failed and your children lack, the Lord scourges His children but does not slay them. Our smarts and sorrows come from His special love, and the will of the Lord must be done. It is not the time to rage against second causes, the collapsed business, the empty purse, but to perceive that this very extremity is the moment when He looks down from the height of His sanctuary to hear the groaning of the prisoner.
You feel fettered, as though a death warrant is signed against your household. But the prey shall be taken from the mighty, and the lawful captive delivered, for the Lord has found a ransom. He did not spare His own Son but gave heaven’s brightest jewel to redeem you from all iniquity. If He has delivered from the guilt of sin, He will deliver from the power of darkness all the way through. The clock of mercy struck in heaven the hour of your deliverance before you drew your first breath.
Your children are His peculiar care; pour out your soul for them, but know that the promise stands: “I will pour My Spirit upon your seed.” Wait only upon God, for your expectation is from Him. You crossed the brook full of fear, but Esau fell on your neck and kissed you. Do not let the archers of doubt and despair shout that God’s ear is shut. He hears the groaning of the prisoner, and He brings up His children even from their prisons. Trust Him implicitly. You rush from the hearing of the Word into a frantic search for a fleeting deliverance, while the flame of zeal is quenched the moment you depart. Does not the Scripture say to take the book into your hands, and with your children, gather together what you have heard before you plunge into the business of life? Yet you seek a financial breakthrough as if God were a merchant, and you forget that your true need is a breakthrough of faith. You are awed while hearing, but become altered when you go out. Where does this great change arise, except from an unbecoming employment of your time and the company of anxious thoughts that act like evil men?
You say you cannot care for your children, but hear how Paul honors the widow who has brought up children. Instill into them the fear of God from their first youth, and He will protect them better than any father. This is a wall not to be broken. For when a guard is seated within, we have no need of contrivances without. Your lamentation is not from loss of a business, but from want of faith. How many famous men were brought up by widows, while others under their fathers’ wealth were undone? God becomes the Father of your children if you train them in faith and love, not in panicked grasping.
You look for a memorial in your labor, leaving a house or a small business as a monument. But what memorial is that, truly? Is it not a monument of covetousness, soon turned up and disinterred by passing mouths who see nothing but the struggle? It is better to have nothing than to sustain such an accusation. Be merciful as your heavenly Father is merciful; He feeds even the sorcerer and the adulterer, and no one perishes of hunger except by his own choice. Will He not feed the widow who seeks Him?
The few who have nothing yet wear themselves out for riches have a saying destitute of all excuse, that their money will be their immortal memorial. Ridiculous. Your body is concealed in the earth, but you do not permit the memory of your anxiety to be concealed. Do you not see that to sustain such an accusation of faithlessness is worse than poverty? Honor God by deeds, for we need the honor that comes from Him. The fear of the Lord is an art that needs teaching, so teach your children to seek the life yonder, not a temporary deliverance.
Some will say the sin of despair is a small moment, so the punishment should last a small moment. But do you not see the thief or adulterer who in a brief moment sins, yet spends a lifetime in prisons and mines with continual hunger? There is no one to say the time of the punishment must equal the time of the offense. So do not calculate that your trial will be short because your faith grows faint in a moment. Those who were tortured did not accept a false deliverance because they looked for a better resurrection. Your true breakthrough is not to have your small business restored, but to lay hold of the promise, to become a child of God born after the fashion of Isaac, not according to the power of the flesh, but the power of the promise.
Where the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered; where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Seek the shining forth of His glory, which needs no herald to show itself in an instant throughout the whole world. Let your daily bread be sought with hands that first open the Scripture with your children. Then, not before, engage in the business of life.

Your situation weighs heavily on my heart, and I am praying for you and your little ones. There is a pattern throughout Scripture where God’s people find themselves hemmed in by forces they cannot control, season after season where provision dries up and the strength to provide seems gone. Yet when all human resources fail, the Lord hears the cry of those who call on Him. Time and again, children of Israel were pressed beyond measure, and in their desperation they cried out. God did not turn a deaf ear; He raised up deliverance for them. I am asking Him to do that very thing for you.
Do not let the size of your trouble eclipse the Lord who is able. The enemy wants you to fix your eyes on the giants and the high-walled cities, the unemployment, the collapsed business, the needs of your children, so that you lose sight of the promise that God is your provider. He has not forgotten you, and He has not abandoned your children. The same God who once made a way through a sea when no path existed, and who brought water from a rock, still holds your life in His hands.
Guard your heart against the subtle temptation to settle for less than full reliance on Him. Sometimes we try to make practical compromises that amount to living at peace with our fears, leaving pockets of unbelief in the land of our hearts. That path only breeds more sorrow. Instead, lay every piece of your situation before the Lord and trust Him to fight for you. He cares deeply about those two young ones. The generations matter to Him, and He can turn your testimony into a legacy of His faithfulness that your children will recount long after this season ends.
