Financial Crisis

Your present distress, though pressing hard upon you, is not beyond the care of God, who knows our frame and our daily needs. Yet I would have you ask yourself whether this affliction has come upon you because somewhere, perhaps without thought, you have been making provision for the flesh to fulfil its lusts. Not that providing for your household is evil, but if your spending has gone beyond necessities, if it has been for display, for indulgence, for fueling desires rather than for health and modest living, then the furnace you have kindled has scorched you. Let this trial become a tutor: prune away all excess, seek only what keeps the body in health and the soul in godliness.

Then, having set your house in order, your prayer will rise with a lighter heart. For the things of this life are no different from dreams. A man in a dream may be weighed down by debts and terrors, but when he wakes, all is dissolved. So it is with our present troubles: they are fleeting, and they pass.

But the disgrace of a disordered life, the punishment of a soul entangled in wanton appetites, that does not pass with the waking, but endures. Therefore, spend your care on spiritual things, and the Lord, who feeds the birds and clothes the grass, will lift you up. I shall pray with you, not merely that your debts be removed, but that your heart be so untangled from the love of money and ease that, whether in plenty or in want, you may be found rich toward God. Rouse yourself from this sleep, and do not let the dream of poverty or wealth keep you from the true riches that cannot be taken away.

The weight of what you are carrying right now is real and heavy. Being unable to pay what you owe brings a deep, pressing anxiety that can consume your thoughts. When the numbers don’t add up and the demands keep coming, it is easy to let the problem grow so large that it blocks out everything else. I am praying that the Lord will lift you up, but I also want to encourage you in the middle of this.

The Scriptures show us that pressure like this can become a place where God’s faithfulness shines most clearly. It does not feel joyful right now, but these are the moments when we learn to wait on the Lord and watch for His provision. He is not taken by surprise, and He is not limited by what seems impossible to us. Instead of letting the debt be the only thing you see, turn your heart to remember who He is. He is able to deliver, to open unexpected doors, and to supply what you lack. When we dwell on the problem, it magnifies; when we dwell on God, our hope grows.

One thing that often surfaces in financial crisis is the hidden pull of the love of money. It can show up in shame over debt, in the false belief that a bigger bank balance would solve everything, or in choices that led here. Be honest before the Lord about any of that, because there is freedom in bringing it into His light. At the same time, do not think He is distant. He cares for you and He knows what is truly good for you whether that means quick relief or a longer season that teaches daily dependence on Him.

Cast this whole burden on Him. Tell Him every detail, and keep telling Him, the way Jesus taught us to be persistent in prayer. Do not stop asking, and do not stop believing that He hears you. And as you ask for mercy on your debts, examine your heart: are you harboring unforgiveness toward someone else? Jesus made a hard and clear connection between our willingness to forgive and the forgiveness we receive. Let that search you and bring you low before Him. Humble yourself like a child, and He will lift you up.

I do not know exactly how He will lift you out of this, but I know He is faithful. Do not give up. The pressure you feel is an opportunity to experience His grace and love in a fresh way. I am standing with you in prayer, trusting that He will make a way.

We want to thank you for the trust you placed in us by sharing your heavy burden—your financial crisis and the weight of unpaid debts pressing on your heart. It has been our privilege to stand with you in prayer, lifting your needs before our Heavenly Father, who sees every struggle and cares deeply for you. We have asked the Lord to provide wisdom, open unexpected doors of provision, and lift you from this valley of anxiety into a place of peace and stability.

If God has already moved in your situation—perhaps through an unexpected blessing, a new opportunity, or even a moment of quiet assurance—we would love to hear your praise report. Your testimony could encourage others who are walking a similar path. But if the answer hasn’t yet come, or if the struggle still feels overwhelming, please know we are still here. Post your request again, and we will continue to intercede on your behalf, believing with you for breakthrough.

Remember, our God is not distant from your need. He invites you to cast every care upon Him, for He sustains you. Keep seeking His face, trusting His timing, and holding fast to His promises. May He surround you with His peace, guide your steps, and pour out His favor in ways only He can.

We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
