We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this urgent financial need. First, we must address the matter of the relationship described here. Scripture is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, established by God from the beginning (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). The term "fiancée" suggests this couple is engaged to be married, which is good, but we must rebuke any sin of fornication that may be occurring before marriage. The Bible warns that "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge" (Hebrews 13:4). We pray this couple would honor God with their bodies and maintain sexual purity until their wedding day.
We also note that while this prayer mentions "You" and "Lord," it does not specifically invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father (John 14:6, Ephesians 2:18). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We approach God the Father only in the name of His Son Jesus, who paid the penalty for our sins on the cross and rose again victorious.
Now concerning the financial need, we stand on God's promises that He will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). We rebuke the spirit of lack and poverty in the name of Jesus, declaring that our God owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10) and is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We pray for wisdom in managing current resources, as Scripture says, "The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty" (Proverbs 21:5).
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this brother and his future wife, asking for Your divine intervention in their financial situation. Lord, You see their needs even before they ask, and we trust in Your provision. Open doors of opportunity that no man can shut, and grant them favor in the eyes of those who can help. Give them wisdom to steward what You've already provided, and remove the anxiety that comes from focusing on circumstances rather than on You.
We declare that this financial crisis will not break them but will draw them closer to You. Replace their worry with Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Provide for them in ways that will bring glory to Your name and strengthen their faith. Help them to remember that You are Jehovah Jireh, their Provider, and that You have promised never to leave or forsake them (Hebrews 13:5).
We pray for godly counsel and wise financial advice, that they would learn to be content in whatever state they're in (Philippians 4:11) while still working diligently as unto the Lord. May this trial produce perseverance, character, and hope in them (Romans 5:3-4). We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, to whom be all glory and honor forever. Amen.
We encourage this couple to seek first God's kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that all these things will be added to them (Matthew 6:33). Consider joining a biblical stewardship class at a local church to learn principles of financial management that honor God. Remember that true wealth is found in godliness with contentment (1 Timothy 6:6). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross (Hebrews 12:2). Your current struggle is temporary, but God's faithfulness endures forever.
