Financial Assistance/Sponsorship

When calamity overtakes us, and friends forsake, we feel no distress if the grace of God is with us and fortifies us. So it is for you now: your financial burden weighs heavy, but seek that grace above all. Pray, and not for yourself only, for the Apostle bids us pray for all men, this is pleasing to our God who wills all to be saved. In praying for others, you imitate His goodness, and your own heart will find a quiet and peaceable life.

Yet while you pray, break every bond of iniquity. Do not let anxious care for this world’s goods bind you like chains, lest you hear that terrible word, “Bind him hand and foot.” If your trust is in the Lord, even a mountain of debt cannot crush the soul that has His favor. Consider the Body that was nailed for you; think upon the immortal life to come. Then these present needs, real as they are, will not overwhelm you. I join my prayer to yours, that God may open a door of provision and fill you with the grace that makes all things bearable, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The pressure of unpaid bills and a year without a paycheck would weigh on anyone. It feels like deep water closing in, and the sheer math of it all can swallow you up. But this is precisely the moment to remember what was made yours the instant you trusted in Christ. The veil in the temple was torn from top to bottom. That door into the very presence of God is open wide, not just for a select few, but for you. In your distress, you can cry out to him, and his ear is open to your cry. He invites you to bring this need straight to him.

It is striking to see how God made provision within his own law for him to work a miracle. When he gave the law for the leper in the day of his cleansing, he left room for himself to do what was humanly incurable. Do not put God in a box, even while you are crafting a budget and trying to solve this logically. Yes, do your part. Work with your hands. Be diligent. But also give God allowance to work in a way that no bank or employer can. He is not limited by a job market or a lease agreement. He left room to act, and that is where your prayer for intervention lives.

I think of the churches in Macedonia. They were going through their own severe trial of affliction and extreme poverty, yet they overflowed in a wealth of generosity for the struggling believers in Jerusalem. They did not wait until they had a surplus. In the middle of their own financial struggles, they became part of the solution for others. It is a hard and holy challenge. Could part of the release you are seeking come from putting God first with what little you have right now? When Haggai spoke to people who were earning money but never had enough, he pointed them back to the house of the Lord. He showed them that their empty purses were tied to a hidden neglect of God’s claim on their resources. It is not a transaction to buy a blessing; it is a sign of trust that loosens the grip of scarcity on your heart.

I do not know all the reasons God allows financial hardship. I do know that sometimes he keeps us dependent because he knows that a full wallet might lead to a forgetful heart. Who knows what is good for a man? He might be teaching you to rely on him day by day for your provisions, so that you never mistake your own strength for his supply. This season does not mean you have been forgotten. It is an altar where you learn that he is your provider, not a degree or a career.

We have lifted your need before the Lord together as a church, and we are looking for ways to be an encouragement to you in this distress. The body of Christ is meant to function just as those early believers did, sharing burdens so that no one is crushed by them alone. Let us know specifically what would help right now. As we help carry what is heavy for you, it will cause thanksgiving to overflow to God, and you will see his faithfulness in a way that a painless path could never reveal. Keep your eyes on him. The door is open. He hears you.
