Finances

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for me because I really messed my finances up because I couldn't work a lot last month due to the consequences of getting involved in something I never should have and I now am so behind and have so many bills and things to pay. Thank you.

We have heard your request and we join together to lift you up before our heavenly Father in Jesus' name. We appreciate your honesty in admitting that you messed up your finances as a consequence of getting involved in something you never should have. That kind of confession takes humility and it is the first step toward restoration. God sees your heart and your need, and He also sees the choices that led to this hardship.

The Bible makes clear that our actions have consequences, and at times the Lord allows us to feel the weight of those consequences to draw us back to Him. Proverbs 21:5 says The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit, and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty. Proverbs 28:13 says He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. We commend you for not concealing what happened but confessing it, and we encourage you now to forsake that involvement completely and turn away from it. 1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If that involvement was sin, and your words suggest it was, we urge you to repent before God and ask for His cleansing, and to make practical boundaries so you do not return to it.

We also want to address that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to gently remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you to place your faith fully in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name not only for financial help but for eternal life. Romans 10:13 says For, Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.

For your finances, we know God cares about your practical needs. Philippians 4:19 says My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Hebrews 13:5 says Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, I will in no way leave you, nor will I in no way forsake you. Matthew 6:33 says But seek first Gods Kingdom, and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. We encourage you to seek Him first, to be diligent in your work as God enables you, and to be a faithful steward of what He provides. 2 Thessalonians 3:10 reminds us that hard work is part of Gods provision, and Romans 13:8 teaches us to owe no one anything except to love one another, so we encourage you to make a simple budget, to live within your means, to communicate honestly with those you owe, and to seek wise godly counsel if you need help making a plan to catch up. Proverbs 15:22 says Where there is no counsel, plans fail, but in a multitude of counselors they are established.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. Lord, we thank You that You are merciful and forgiving to those who confess and forsake sin. We ask You to forgive where there has been sin and to cleanse and restore. Give a heart that fully turns from that wrong involvement and a strength to walk in holiness. Lord, You see the financial burden and the bills that are overwhelming. We ask for Your provision and Your wisdom. Open doors for honest work, give diligence and opportunity to catch up, and give wisdom to steward every dollar well. Help to make a plan, to be faithful in small things, and to trust You rather than fear. Luke 12:24 reminds us that You feed the birds and we are more valuable than they are, so we ask for Your peace that passes understanding to guard this heart. Provide for every need according to Your riches in glory, and teach contentment and trust in You. We ask all of this in the precious name of Jesus, our only Savior and Provider, amen.

We hear how heavy this feels to be behind and looking at a pile of bills after a month where you could not work much. Thank you for being honest about it, including the regret you feel about the choices that led here. It takes courage to name that.

Carrying debt can feel oppressive and make it hard to think clearly, and just having a clear plan in place can bring a little breathing room even while you are still making hard sacrifices to catch up. When you are ready, one steady next step we have seen help others is to get a full picture on paper and then get another set of trusted eyes on it.

You could set aside quiet time this week to list every bill, amount, and due date, along with what income you expect now that you are able to work again. Then consider reaching out for personal help with the numbers, a nonprofit consumer credit counseling agency in your area or a financial counselor through your church or community services. They can help you sort priorities, talk with creditors about repayment options, and build a realistic budget that fits what you actually have to live on. If you can, ask one wise, trustworthy person to walk with you for accountability as you work the plan.

We are praying for you and for wisdom in each decision ahead.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus name. You see the burden of these bills and the regret over last month. Give clear thinking, provision for what is needed, and guidance toward people who can help with practical next steps. Bring peace and steadiness as You lead forward. Amen.

Your honest and humble confession has been heard and we will carry your burden to the throne of grace in prayer.

You speak plainly that you became involved in something you never should have, and that the consequences have followed you into your inability to work and now into great pressure of bills. This is a solemn place to stand, yet it is also a hopeful place if the Lord is working in your heart that holy repentance which is the gift of God. There is a repentance that is of the flesh, a carnal regret that fears only the judgment and does not give God glory. But there is a true repentance, wrought by the Holy Spirit, which gives God glory, which weeps and abhors the past life because of the love of Christ which has pardoned it, and which avoids present sin because of the love of God who died for us. Try your heart by this test. Does your sorrow lead you out of self to look to Christ and to Christ only for remission. For repentance and remission are joined together in His name, and where there is true godly sorrow there is full and free forgiveness through His finished work.

Do not think of repentance as a single act to be gotten through and then forgotten. Repentance lives as long as faith lives, and sweet sister repentance is to be our companion all our days. True repentance will yield works meet for repentance. It will be practical and it will last. It will not be a compensation offered to God as if sorrow could pay a debt, but a turning of the whole heart to Him. Remember how the goodness of God leads us to repentance. He does not merely drive with the whip, He draws with cords of love, and His kindness should kindle in us a burning indignation against sin because it is committed against so holy and so good a Being.

Take comfort from Peter. He fell grievously and was carried away by sudden temptation, but the Lord had prayed for him that his faith should not fail, and a look from Christ melted his heart into bitter and salutary tears. That same Lord lives and prays for His own this day. Though you have fallen, if you are His, His intercession secures your restoration. He will lift you from the sifting and set your feet again upon the way of obedience.

We will pray for you, that the Lord will grant you true repentance unto life and a clear sight of Christ as your only hope, that He will restore to you purity of heart and a right spirit, that He will in His goodness provide for your temporal needs, give you strength and opportunity for honest labour, grant you wisdom as a steward of what He supplies, and help you to meet your obligations with integrity. May He teach you to be prudent and diligent, to owe no man anything but love, and to prove the reality of repentance by a changed and ordered life.

Cast your care upon Him, for He cares for you, and seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that He knows what you have need of.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
